kai2: Just watched a video on TES Blades. Wow. Just looks like a Skyrim asset flip. Yes, it's mobile, but alongside Fallout 76, IMO it seems to crystallize the current Bethesda mission...
It's been their mission for around 2 years. Wasn't before, they released a ton of great games before then. Whether this is a blip or has completely taken over the company, we'll see... Hopefully Starfield and Arkane's new game are a course correction.

paladin181: If you had to pay it wouldn't be popular. Much like ModDB, there are free account options.

GameRager: Do you need an account for ModDB now? I remember just DLing from it without an account...did they change that?
No, but there are free options. I didn't state that clearly.
Did I somehow teleport into an alternate dimension or something?

Yes, one where all DLC is fairly priced and cash lootboxes don't exist....where companies like looking glass studios and westwood are still in business and where all those cliffhanger games in our old world got the sequels they deserve.....where DRM is a figment of the imaginati....oh wait, scratch that, we're still in the old one......:\

DLC's used to be called Expansion Packs and came in *.pak files also *.wad files as well.

Actually, DLC is a new umbrella term for more than expansions.....it includes things like expansions, cosmetic changes/additions, etc.

It's a dumb term either way now that games are downloadable in general, but it's so entrenched in marketing I don't see it changing. In any case I think his point was more that DLCs can be good things, when done well. It's not the concept that is bad, just some uses of it.

I don't play online/free games, so I've honestly rarely encountered DLCs I had a moral problem with. I know Ubisoft has some weird stuff in their games but I've never opened those menus and never had an issue.

Unlike some others in here, you are correct. Expansion packs had specific game addons that could be from Weapons to Clothes or Food Items. They were scarce for a long time and then some smarties caught on and said..''I know how to make more money''.....''How?''......We make a game and make it with bugs and''....''Bugs? We cant do that!''.....''It's okay''...''As the modders will fix them''....Then we put out special little attractions/extras for the game and the su..people will buy them and we will call them DLC's instead of Expansion Packs''.....''Great idea, you are worth more money but''..
