Title says it all. Not looking for links to copy righted material and such, just wondered if anyone has any experience using Spectrum emulators on Windows 7.

I would say that the best one for windows 7 is Spectaculator (http://www.spectaculator.com/). The problem is that it is shareware and you must pay after a period of time.

If you want a free Spectrum emulator, you could try Fuse (The Free Unix Spectrum Emulator) (http://fuse-emulator.sourceforge.net/). There is a port to windows (see download section). I have never used the windows port, but the linux version is quite good.

Yeah, I stumbled across both of them and thought they might be the way to go.

maybe I'm the one in 2020 that still wants to play ZX Spectrum games and expect the RetroArch emulator is there any other zx spectrum emulators that can support these old games for playing on my PC. I have found some games and I want to play them. any help with choosing the right emulator, if there is no other emulator for pc can someone suggest an emulator for android phone.

Do not worry, you are not the only one. Since I discovered "Lumo"--a love-letter to the old ZxSpectrum isometric adventures (or platformers) such as Alien 8, Knight Lore and so on--last year I am playing those games again by means of emulation. (Although there are some great windows ports of some of these games, for instance, made by retrospec.)

So far, I have some relative good results with the Xpectroid emulator on an older android tablet. The dual on-screen keyboard works great on my old device, it plays most (but not all) of my games, and comes without any annoying advertisement or in-app-purchases!

I did not tried any ZxSpectrum emulators on PC, yet. Because I replaced just recently my former Laptop and had made the move to Windows 10 64-Bit operating system on the new one. Still getting acustomed to that one.

Maybe, I still have my notes on various available ZxSpectrum emulator options, that I had looked in or investigated before I settled on Xpectroid. Would those be of interest for you?

(I remember trying a Speccy emulator some years ago, it worked fine for me as far as I can tell but unfortunately I can't remember which one. However it was a long time ago and maybe it wouldn't be so good anymore).

The best ZX Spectrum emus are ZX Spin (Free) and Spectaculator (30-day trial).

ZesarUX is good but more fiddly and it supports ZX Spectrum NEXT and promises crazy features like auto-mapping text adventures, if you can figure it out.

For Raspberry Pi: Fuse is good, as well as ZesarUX.

A few years back I swore by Marvin on Android, but now many smartphones aren't supported.

Since the thread's been necro'ed (mange takk, smartgenes), perhaps a counter-recommendation is worth sharing too:
Retroarch.
And I'm not even commenting in the lights of the ethics of the guy running the project (do your own research for that).
But Retroarch can be rather... abysmal when it comes to emulating pre-2000's, non-Windows PC games, with issues like conflicting commands (even when switching to direct inputs to the emulator), emulators being cumbersome to configure due to the scope of Retroarch requiring corners to be cut, and Retroarch not being able to run games that require multiple disks to be mounted at the same time without often requiring major workarounds.

The title made me wonder 'what's a Spectrum Emulator?' before opening the topic. Now I see it's an emulator for software that ran on the great and late Sir Sinclair's mini-computer, but it might as well be software that helps neurotypicals experience what it's like to be on the autistic spectrum. Though I do suspect it's harder to do well than simulation of psychosis by the already existent psychosis simulators. Though the facet of over-stimulation of the senses by the outside world could be easily implemented by amplifying and distorting all sounds and visions from the surroundings so that even 'normal' people get overwhelmed. Voila! A Spectrum Emulator.

Now I can't help but wonder, why a guy from Brazil thanks a guy from Slovakia, using Norwegian...
