But isn't it just a Soundblaster emulator? What about the rest?

My apologies I jumped the gun on the hype, it turns out SBemu accordiing to what I was told -

"it's not a replacement for emulation. it's an alternative to using actual retro hardware, and instead use somewhat more modern hardware and just emulate the sound driver portion
or (possibly?) more accurately, exposing more modern sound hardware to DOS via driver
there is starting to become some scarcity (or at least scalping) of actual retro hardware, so this is one solution to that problem

Tldr - I got baited by the hype

I don't know much about this emulator but it seems it's meant for real MS DOS and not DOSBox.

If it would support AWE and EAX5 it would be a good addition indeed.


For Windows I use indirectsound for multi channel EAX, but it does not support many special effects (but at least there's surround sond).
