It was just after my 25th birthday (2019) when i decided to give GOG a try and i never looked back. It was like a natural thing to do.I always had the impression about GOG being more mature/adult and "niche" platform. To be honest i didn't know much about DRM when i was a teenager and i always regret buying too many games in other platforms.

I see a lot of you guys being on this platform for years, even a decade! :). How was it for you?

Well, your old enough to know, never ask “how was it for you”!
It was a few days after i turned 25 and that was because even back then i noticed that the industry was going downhill fast and after a few crappy experience with Securom, GFWL etc i just fuck it all and didn't want to bother with DRM like that anymore. Now i haven't bought games anywhere else for years,

Witcher 2 was also responsible since i bougt it on launch with a physical copy after liking first game years earlier and with the purchase you got a GOG code and earlier i didn't think of a good reason to join even if i knew GOG existed.

Is there a more proper way to say it? I feel so dumb now haha. (I'm still learning english btw :) )

It was in a mythical age, long ago, the time when cowboys still rode on Dinosaurs, as I was sneaking deeper into the web. And deeper. And deeper. Suddenly, a gently voice from out of nowhere whispered: "GoG!" And a glowing arrow appeared, showing me the way to enlightment. When I first saw the gardens of GoG, my eyes couldn`t believe it! My mind wanted to explode!
Then a great calmness came over me, and I understood, I was reborn as a Gogger, a Goglodyte. I`ve seen the light, brothers and sisters, and therefore I`m here.
Amen

Well, Joakingdom, you could have posted, "What was your experience like? & What were some of your reasons for joining?"

When I joined, the Dead Sea was just a bit sick. I made the plunge, joining here in order to enjoy owning games just as I had believed that I had when they were on discs. Now many of those, valid codes and all, do not work, most regrettably.

I also joined up around my late 20's(around my 28th birthday, actually).....this year will mark my 10 year GOGaversary, in fact. :)
I was 45. Never heard about GOG until 2016. :P
I was 30. And it was the free Fallout that drew me here and since then I got fond of the place.
I was 39. I stumbled on GOG when I was looking for a place to buy Arcanum, which I've read was much like Baldur's Gate. Stupidly, I never really did 'get into' the game and both times I started the game my interest slipped away before the game was really on it's way. Baldur's Gate on the other hand, which I bought as soon as it became available here, I played again and again, and again, and again Enhanced, and Enhanced again, and again ad infinitum.

I was 26 and it was just before I suffered this F*CKING HIP INJURY! where the pain sends me slightly loopy.

Arcanum is really good(intro/how one is viewed depending on setup choices/etc)....I hope you weren't turned off it for good and might some day try it again....but if not, no worries. :)

(Also there are mods/etc to fix it's shortcomings as well)

As for games, Planescape is good, and also Septerra Core(although SC has respawning enemies in various areas one needs to backtrack through).
31 or 32. I came specifically for those old games and all that nostalgia. I probably spent waaaaaay too much money once I got a proper look at the catalogue, and realized I could stop hassling with compatibility modes trying to get a bunch of games to work in modern Windows. DRM free was a side bonus, but I mainly came for the games.

Oddly enough, I believe it was GOG's Facebook page that happened across my feed at random, and they were advertising Masters of Orion 1 + 2, Space Quest, Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics, and a few others that slip my mind atm, either way, I was sold.

The game gives me choice anxiety. Right at the beginning, giving back that ring or not, trusting that fellow or not: it probably will impact how the game turns out and then I hesitate and quit. Also because I died instantly with the first serious combat, with the robbers breaking into someone's house who asks you to help, but my help only helped precipitate my character's death.

I used to have such more often(worry what to play and what to do while playing)...then I started making journals of choices so I could go back and do other things if I desired if I ever played again, and then just played as I wanted.

In those examples, one would obviously keep the ring(so one can look into the mystery), and as for the man(trust or not)....well, he follows you whether you trust him or not, so it doesn't matter as much what you pick(one tends to get a "second sense" of which choice affect what and how much as one plays such games more and more, it seems) with that.

i.e. Just pick what you want and/or what seems like it'll allow you to experience the most and in a way you want, and have fun...you could always play it another way the next time(if one plays again). :)

As for the combat: Dial the difficulty down if you can, or roll better stats/pick a better starting class/etc.

But again, play it if you want or not.....it's all up to you. :)
