Yeah, be sure to try the poutine. =)

If you're blue
And you don't know where to
Go to, why don't you go
Where gravy sits;
Poutine on the ritz!
Different types of wear,
All-day toques,
Earflap hats and
Lumberjack coats, nice warm fits;
Poutine on the ritz!

...well, somebody had to do it.

Edit: Heck, I'll go even further!

Dressed up like an ideal Mountie trooper!
Trying hard to prove you're not a Yooper!
Super-duper, eh?

Come, let's go
Where hockey players
Swing their sticks
And say their prayers
In their blitz;
Poutine on the ritz!

tinyE: How are the Sens gonna do this year?
I can guarantee 100% that they will... play some hockey.

blotunga: I might not even need a car if buses and trains are reliable and abundant.
They're pretty good all things considering, the OCTranspo Travel Planner can help you plan your route. Note that some buses are Express and cost more.

OneFiercePuppy: ... check out the War Museum...
That's a pretty cool place. There's also the Museum of Nature, Museum of Science and Technology, and the Museum of Civilization. The Diefenbunker is pretty cool too. I see someone else also mentioned the National Gallery. And it sounds like you've already been to the ByWard market. There's also the National Arts Centre (NAC) and if you're less than 30 you can take advantage of the Live Rush promotion.

Also, if you are near to one of The Works locations they're a great (though kind of steep) place for weird and wonderful burgers.

I'll rent a car for the weekend, seems the easiest way. I've visited the War Museum yesterday, entrance was free. Maybe on Monday/Tuesday I'll also visit the Science museum.
I'm also over 30 so the promotion for the NAC doesn't applies.

Makes sense. If you enjoyed the War Museum, aren't claustrophobic, and don't mind making the trip out I'd recommend the Diefenbunker. Too bad about the NAC.

And pancakes with *real* peameal bacon and *real* maple syrup. :)
No.
So did you find any Ottawattians? Or is the correct term Ottawians? Ottawers?

On the forums? Doesn't looks like it. Still I took notice of the tips and will do some of them. Btw does anyone know whether youcan directly buy bus tickets from the driver?
Just jump another pond, once you're at it.

I'm in Ottawa. Also, yes you can (it's 3.65) but they won't give you change. Or you can get an all-day pass for 8.50.

How's Japan in the winter?

Never been here in winter, I pressume cold. That said, there's going to be a huge difference from Hokkaido to Okinawa. Plus, if that's your thing, I've been to plenty japanese gardens where they boast of blooming flora all year round.
