abdollah87: I know that Wemod is a very popular one. But Wemod doesn't support any GOG games. Is there any other safe trainer that supports GOG versions of games?
I wish WeMod would stop this arbitrary platform-separation nonsense. Trainers in the past were platform-agnostic and they still are 90% of the time. They should just add a warning to say that it's untested and enable it anyway.

OP, do this:
In WeMod, find your "unsupported" game.
• Go to Steam section.
• On the "Play" button click the downwards arrow on the right.
• Click "Add custom" and find the game's executable. Make sure to pick the executable of the game and not a launcher, if there's a launcher.
• Once added, never use the big play button. Instead, click the down arrow again and then click play on your custom path. If you wish to launch the game via Galaxy, then launch it via Galaxy and then click play on your custom path in WeMod. It will work in 90% of the cases.

I been using CheatHappens trainers for just about all of my games, I'm a bit annoyed they've gone the route of making a launcher of their own called Aurora (can tag the trainers you want to use quicker I guess, like favorites in a browser.) to replace their old way of doing stand-alone executables instead but a considerable part of my backlog has old standalones ready to use.

If you really want to take full advantage of their trainers though you do have to pay a subscription - but for what you get? I think it's pretty reasonable. There are a fair few free trainers up for use too but there has to be the minimum of atleast having an account with the site, which in itself is free by default.

They do have a habit of prioritizing Steam versions of games first though (which annoys me but I'm not surprised, given that just about every single game company flocks to it), so the GOG versions of the same game usually *do* work aswell but not quite guaranteed.

Had no idea you could tell WeMod to use a custom executable. Thanks. Gonna try with King's Bounty 2.

I also suspect the Steam tables would work with GOG versions most of the time and if there is actually a way to try, it might elevate WeMod's usefulness greatly.

EDIT:
IT WORKS!!! :OOO Now I can finally finish my Katherine playthrough and actually kill the bandit leader instead of having to become his bootlick. Just lowering Finesse affinity for the fight and bumping it back after the fight. YES!!!!

What? Did they go online-only launcher route too? Ugh,I hate this practice. Yes it's "convenient" today, while it works, but if they ever go bust, we'll lose all of them. I miss the stand-alone executables that we could preserve the same as games.

Maybe I should start learning CheatEngine scripting...

dnovraD: Most games are so simple that if you have a hex editor that can do a memory watch or hook onto a process that you're basically golden.

Making that persistent might be harder, but it can be done. That's how the Game Genie and Action replay worked.

Variable goes down by one, find variable and put it back up to 3, for example.
That's pretty much exactly what Cheat Engine does on a basic level, but it also supports cheat tables, aka scripts that are more persistent.

Well you're not wrong, Sargon, this Aurora thing they made supposedly has an offline mode (like Steam?) but I personally haven't tested it so can''t really vouch for it. Also able to use the trainers you have tagged offline too but all in all I believe regardless of being on or offline you need that client running.. defeats the purpose huh?

..and if they suddenly close down well then, shyte, what's next?

Quite the dilemma, I'm very much pro-trainer/modding/editing of games I got it'd leave quite a black hole if it all suddenly vanished, and due to my lack of technical knowledge makes CheatEngine scripting a bit too complex for my simple brain.

What a time to be a gamer, too old for these first world problems.

But now, after getting a new computer, Wemod cheats won't activate for some reason

Yeah, it's going to be a game of luck whether a different store's version of cheats is going to work for the GOG version. KB 2 is luckily the same version, both on GOG and Steam. Not sure about Metro but if it received some Steam specific update, it might as well have broken compatibility.

Still, when I launched the GOG version of KB 2 through WeMod, I could not change anything manually in the WeMod app, but the hotkeys luckily still worked in-game.

Should be fine. CheatEngine does have a bundled app you need to decline installing as part of the installer though.
