Quite a voice for a 43 year old lady. Watched the sub tho so I never noticed before.

It used to be I couldn't stand japanese voices but after watching a ton of anime that changed and nowadays I prefer them, since the english dub usually isn't outirght bad but doesn't really stand out positively either.

What I find more interesting is looking up the Italian version when I can because their dub is always either godawful or incredibly good. For example I refuse to watch FLCL or Welcome to the NHK in anything but italian.

German usually is pretty solid quality too but not outstanding either.


Do any of you also watch anime in you local language if it isn't english?

Man, those "aaaAhhhh..." are so, SO bad! It's like they're not even trying at all...

To my ears at least, yes. Someone uploaded the whole thing on youtube but the audio is so low quality it hurts. so all i got is this clip.

I watch English dubs if they are available I guess, though I usually prefer Japanese voices with English subs.

Are you sure? I remember that only TB disliked anime, and certain elements if I'm not mistaken. Jesse also seemed quite fond of them. Though, I've only watched the Co-op podcasts starting from ep 152.

Surely TB, but the others seemed to belittle anime too.
Now, instead, they're all informed and happy about the latest anime on Crunchyroll..
Also, I always found Dodger the least interesting of them.

Maybe they just came around to it? It can happen with anything. (It's also likely they only belittle certain types of anime).

You sound ambiguous? If both English dub and Japanese with subs are available to you, which will you choose?

Japanese voice with English subs, I've already watched too many anime like this to be used to anything else. And there's just something that makes the option appealing to me. Also, I kinda worry the English dub will be terrible or inaccurate.

Yeah the only fault with it is that Naota sounds a bit too adult, the rest is really spot on. I wish there were decent clips of the manga scene or of the father because it seems they really went out of their way to make them sounds good.

Heard some rumours about that years ago, guess they're finally going with it. Don't know what to expect of it, reviving old series doesn't seem to be the most succesfull idea lately. I'm at least a bit optimistic that they're changing things around with the cast a bit as Naota's story is probably better left where it ended.

I wouldn't say they are completely phoning it in but they don't seem to be much interested in anything that isn't accepted as mainstream, except for Dodger. I used to ocassionaly watch her anime lists but she really fits the "Animu girl XD" stereotype so much that it makes her opinions sounds shallow.

I thought about mentioning something akin to that but I wasn't sure how most Italian teenagers are supposed to sound like. What about those NHK Italian dub, any examples? I remember more on that than FLCL for some reason.

I mean it kind of fits him too because he would like to appear as an adult, but it was probably unintantional and has more too do with the fact that they couldn't find anyone that sounds young enough.

It's also interesting that the Italian dub didn't translate the word "Senpai."
