Grargar: Maybe it will be released alongside Skyrim so that GOG can have a news tagline of "After being released everywhere else years ago, they're finally here!!!!!1111".
They need to release it on mobile first.

SirPrimalform: Nintendont has worked great for all the games I tried it for. Amazing that it's basically enabling Gamecube compatibility that the Wii U already has.
I guess you might want a spare Wii U, but hacking it is fairly low risk unless you're trying to do Coldboot Haxchi (which I haven't bothered with).
dolphin works mostly great on my new computer but there is nothing like playing games on what essentially is third gen gamecube PowerPC hardware on a controller with a screen built in it.

The only caveat is that because Nintendont has to be run in Wii mode to be able to get into "Gamecube mode", you can't use the controls on the Gamepad. You can use the screen obviously, but no controls.
Gamepad controls in Wii mode is the Wii U hacking holy grail. It's theoretically possible, a few eShop releases of Wii games (e.g. Xenoblade) support the Gamepad as a controller so it can be done...
