PixelBoy: You are correct in your first point, the animation goes on until the movement stops, but the animation speed doesn't change at all no matter where or how far you move (unless you create a complicated script for that purpose). You are wrong in your second point, however, as at least I can't see much gliding when moving from left to right or right to left, but when there's any depth in the movement there's some gliding, and that of course involves character scaling.
But it isn't an issue with changing animation speed either. It is simply a matter of linking the frames of the animation with the movement of the character, which visionnaire doesn't seem to do. There is gliding from left to right as well, but it seems that Deponia was aware of the problem, because they try their best to always hide the character's feet when he's walking in large rooms where the character sprite would be enlarged. Still, an example from another video and one from another game of theirs.

And you were right about Broken Age having the gliding problem, so here is an example from Broken Sword instead. Was hard remembering it...there don't seem to be a lot of non-3D hi-res adventure games! Anyhow, you can see in the character's horizontal walking as well as vertical walking, no issue!

babark: I quite liked DotT's puzzles, I often use their time travel mechanic puzzles as examples of interesting puzzle design. But who knows, it could be nostalgia talking.
the remaster was the first version i played and i was hugely impressed with the time based puzzle solving. i wouldn't say it's nostalgia. it is genuinely an incredible design.

You should check out Time Gentlemen, Please! and The Silent Age if you like that time travel puzzle mechanic. Silent Age is a bit on the easy side, but has a very good story, and Time Gentlemen is very much an homage to LucasArts stuff like DoTT. It almost tries a bit to hard to be those games, but it's still a ton of fun.

Breja: It's way better. Memoria and especially Chains of Satinav are by far their best games, and in fact Chains is probably my favourite adventure game ever. Perfectly logical puzzles, great story, great characters, beautiful graphics.
I would so much love to play them, since we're (family and friends, now the kids even, still play The Dark Eye PnP). But in German. I usually don't care (sometimes even prefer the English version even for German games because it sometimes has higher production values), but The Dark Eye must be in German. Such a shame GOG isn't allowed to sell it.

I totally get that. It's like I'd never play The Witcher in English, only in Polish, even though other than that I always go with English in games.

Maybe you could find the games in German elsewhere? Or somehow "re-German" them? I remember I had to mess around with the files for Mass Effect 2 to play it in English rather than with the Polish dub.

They're available on disk for 13€ (both in one box). Sys req doesn't mention internet connection so it seems non-Steam.

Regarding The Witcher - if I ever play again through the series from the beginning I'll try Polish voice-over (with subs of course). I noticed in the credits of Witcher 2 that the Polish voice cast is four times as long as the English one.
