So, there was this thread about 3D modeling, which has now been deleted. Okay, it was an advert from some Indian guy (no offense, Liquidsnakehpks), so the deletion was a good thing.

But the subject got me curious. How much would it cost to outsource 3D character modeling to another company? I have absolutely no grasp of this subject, I can't even guess.

Sometimes I do hate my curious nature.

KneeTheCap:
Well, firstly you'll have to consider if you want to BUY the copyright to the models inclusive in the price - "work for hire" contracts are becoming far less popular (and for good reason), so getting a licence and giving out a small % of royalties is a high possibility.

Secondly, you might find an independent artist / freelancer to be more what you're looking for in terms of price and workload.

As to the price itself, not too sure. Do 3D myself but as of this moment I havent bothered to commercially apply it.

You may be best checking out the forums at Unity (or one of the other big engines), as they have a subforum for contracts, people looking for work:
http://forum.unity3d.com/forums/commercial-job-seeking.48/
forum.unity3d.com/forums/commercial-job-offering.49/

Should have plenty information there.
thanks for this information.
