When converting the value to GiB, additional ~9% have to be substracted.

JFI (I guess you know the rate, but others might not)
1GB disk space = 0.93GiB (unformatted)

I hadn't done the math and was partially guessing, thinking the 24GB lost was enough plus the 10Gb or whatnot overhead.

Then again the lower 24 of each power of 10 is lost is quickly adding up. Go high enough and it will be half the size...

And how big is "high enough"?

Fact is: We should start to use GiB as a drive size value, would make more sense.

Although, US never was exact on numbers... they always was weird using it.

Indeed, on a 20 TB drive i lose around 9,9% (close to 10%), not "only" 9%... so this means with increased size the loss will increase as well. Making this entire "decimal number game" even more like a "fake marketing story".

And I played GTA 5 once. It was bigger than 100 GB.
I would have never thought of GTA 5.... kinda have a personal ban against Rockstar games going on. Seriously, a developer promoting criminal life should be shot in the head ;p and Middle-Earth came as a surprise too, seeing the game is now pretty old, at least in my head it is. Warner Bros.... Didn't those fight games of theirs also came in a huge packages? Must check, yes, yes *in skaven

Is Shadow of War 115GB with or without High Resolution Textures and 4K Cinematics? These two packs combined are about 40GB.

It`s just the base game :)
I haven't claimed the free packs. I think, they would kill my computer.

EDIT: Also, the game might be much bigger after installation.

I see the download for base game is indeed ~115GB but system requirements say "only" 70, which is strange.

Requirements ≠ demand

But in the far old days it was worse... you kinda had to "double" the requirements in order to feel safe.

In general you may be able to play the game, using requirements, with lowest settings @30 FPS, however, almost no one is playing it at those specs... at least not with a smile... this is the issue here.

i do agree with what you are saying, if I only look across the past and the journey, hardware journey i made, results with different systems, experience in games but you know.... there are so many factors involved deciding the end result. For example, it took a period of work for a petrochemical company before i realized how used i got to fans spinning on their highest rpm. Sounds actually can have a deciding factor in how you perceive your environment... and your well being of course.

That's quite correct, same for Cyberpunk.

Without HD content, the installed game 'only' takes 70 GB. GOG included all languages in the installer, but only the selected one will be installed.

I noticed a few years ago they were incorporating all languages; Though i do wish there was a tool they had to strip the unwanted languages. Why should i have Japanese Chinese and Korean languages i'll never touch? As a master file i can understand. but i'd rather they'd have a 'main game/common files' and then individual languages (as a patch?) you can download/install, while staying compatible.

I totally agree, I see no gain in polluting my HD with lots of languages which I will never install.
It's one thing if the game lets you chose your language while playing, in that case you need to include all languages or the game would not work correctly.

But if you configure the language externally, then I think a 'base game' + language packs would be the best solution.
After all there are people who keep all languages and they would have multiple installers with the full game present in each one otherwise.

You are not forced to store any installer and you can only buy the smallest games; there is plenty of them.

(I wish i got their issues... so i will be able to understand).

If the languages was just the text and UI changes, which is essentially fairly small (text takes a handful of megs) then it wouldn't matter if you include all the languages; But more often it seems it's voice, possibly modified music, textures, and even videos, so we're not just talking a handful of gigs of voice/text.

I suggest:
-Shenmue III (100gigas installed, 36 base installer. True? I dont own it for that reason!)
