As for gaming, almost all systems are connected to the internet and almost no gamers will purchase continued support through microsoft ($50 the first year, then $100 the 2nd, and $200 for the 3rd). Hence, actively supporting Windows 7 is a bad idea.
I don't have anything personally against Windows 7 (that's what we use at work). I am against insecure systems as these are often used for more global spam and hacking attacks (which is bad for the entire community).

It's pretty outlandish to expect a company to develop software for a platform that the actual maker of the platform does not even support!
