Greetings, I've been thinking about building a new gaming rig this year and want to know what to get so i can play this game at 4K\60FPS with everything maxed out.

One of the reasons I think it's a good time to get this ball rolling is due to GPU prices returning back to what they should be.

Anyhow I've been eyeballing a 3070 Ti for my GPU and a Ryzen based CPU setup.

Would be nice to see some recommendations!

For native 4k 60fps you would need at least 6800xt / rtx3080. With RT even 6950xt / rtx3090 wouldn't be enough.

As for the CPU, it doesn't have as much impact. Difference between 5600x and 5900x would be ~1fps. Though that new 5800x3d could give some gain.

I just now downloaded Cyberpunk 2077 and without changing any settings I ran the demo. My system is 3 years old and uses an RTX 2070 Super OC, AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16 gigs Gskill 3600C and a Corsair 750X PS.

For native 4K, you want at least a RTX 3080.
If you're looking for some performance comparisons, I can post my FPS numbers using the CP77 benchmark.

System specs are Asus ROG Maximus XII Hero z490, Gigabyte RTX 3080 Aorus Xtreme, Intel i9 10900K @ 5 GHz all-core, 64 GB Corsair RGB Pro 3200 MHz, Corsair HX1200. Games and OS are on separate PCIe Gen 3 x4 NVMe SSDs.
3x HP Omen Z4D33AA 27" 1440p 144 Hz monitors.

Custom settings - RTX is ON and set to Psycho. Advanced settings are mostly set to High or Ultra, except some shadow settings that are set to Medium. DLSS is ON and set to Performance.

Average FPS: 85.32
Min FPS: 53.58
Max FPS: 157.36

Resolution: 2560x1440

Bumping the resolution gives me these numbers:

Average FPS: 42.18
Min FPS: 32.02
Max FPS: 57.66

Resolution: 7680x1440

Well, DLSS is not native resolution :)

Don't bother with Ray Tracing - it's still in the 'gimmick' phase and makes practically zero noticable difference in image quality.

I run the game just fine on my machine at 4k native with everything maxed, but my machine is a bit overpowered. I am using a 5950x, 64gb of ram, and a 3090.

Amen to that. From what I've seen with RTX turned on, it doesn't make much of a difference. Ironic that RTX improves graphics (through better lighting), but in order to keep decent FPS, enabling DLSS is needed - which reduces graphics overall.

I've played around with the settings since my previous post, and my preferred settings by far is both RTX and DLSS turned off (though my RTX 3080 is struggling at times rendering native 7680x1440...).

Say, how much VRAM is used by Cyberpunk 2077 with an RTX 3090? I considered one back at launch, but after seeing every single VRAM benchmark at the time showing no more than ~8 GB VRAM used in every game tested, I went with the 3080 instead. Have VRAM usage changed any since 2020?

Btw, your system is exactly what I suspect is needed to run The Riftbreaker lategame, when the map is cluttered with objects.

You can barely, and I mean BARELY, notice any difference against native resolution. Some edges might be sharper with native, but... it's not worth the hassle.

People always bash ray tracing, literally shouting at everyone "it's pointless, you can't see the difference!!". Well, long story short... if you can see substantial difference between native and DLSS quality mode, the same goes for ray tracing ON and OFF.

My 2 cents are: Crank up DLSS, set ray tracing ON and just enjoy the smoothness.

I don't think you trully understand how DLSS works. It renders game at lower resolution and then upscales it to higher resolution. The higher the performance setting, the lower the renders resolution. Actually you can make that look quite good at first glance as all edges are sharpened and antialiased in the process, but you will always loose fine detail as lower resolution image will simply not have the same amount of detail. The opposite is also true, if you will render the game at higher resolution and then downscale it to native resolution, you will receive superior image quality compared to simply rendering at native resolution, because you will work with image with superior detail in the first place.
DLSS makes sense in dynamic scenes as you will not have time to look closely and admire the view.

CDPR made an excelent work with lightning. Enabling RT will not yield as much quality improvment as in for example Metro Exodus. The most noticable differance will be in reflections and with RT enabled they look amazing. But if I had to choose between RT and native resolution, I would choose the later.

Yes, the difference between raytracing and rasterization is night and day. The reflections are sharp, the shadows graduate between hard and soft depending on distance from light source (this is a big sticking point for me in games because I'm a photographer), and when you crank raytracing up to Psycho, the global illumination makes the colors pop and gives you indirect lighting (makes it a little easier to see in dark places).

4K? I never understood the appeal. I already have trouble fitting my current monitor on my desk.

Meanwhile I got 4 screens on my desk, 3x 27" 1440p + 43" 4K TV above them ("gaming below; entertainment above", as I call it).

As with any sort of restriction, we all make do with what we have, or we take the necessary steps to get what we desire.

In my case it was the latter, by personally designing and constructing a new desk that could handle the size of my screen setup.
2" x 4" frame (spent a week just with sanding everything...), with 3x 30 mm oiled glulam birch table tops.
Total desk size is 195 x 165 x 72 cm (W x D x H), and it can easily support a sustained weight of 100+ Kg if needed.

And I still want at least 2 more monitors, which requires a second graphics card. But to get that either means sacrificing my 10 Gbit network card, replacing the motherboard to get 10 Gbit onboard or building a second PC. Decisions, decisions...

I play in front of a 70' TV. I can assure you that 4K makes a world of difference there. :-) BTW about the thread subject after playing a bit with settings I play in 4K and with Raytraycing, almost all settings in high/ultra, in a RTX 3060, always between 30-50 FPS, thanks to the wonders of DLSS. Only downside I had to disable V-Sync in order to achieve that.

Actually man, RT makes a huge difference in this game. It performs reasonably well, until you hit a huge crowd. Even the 3090 dips to the high 40s

It's definitely not a gimmick anymore. And you definitely aren't running the game perfectly....no one is. Take a run....not a walk down Jig Jig street, behind the diner, or Corpo plaza. The game tanks. The in-game benchmark is useless and inaccurate compared to real game loads. It's just something about those areas with or without RT

I play on a 3080 @1440p, and I can get up to 120 fps max settings, but in those areas, it dips down to as low as 38fps, then back to 90 very very rapidly. The only way I get a consistently smooth experience is to fps limit to 50 with v and g sync.
