frankly I'm too tired to carry on tonight, I'll be back tomorrow as I know this info has gotta be here somewhere.
Basically, I have started running SoA-ToB that I obtained here at GOG.com. I also have been running it with various mods such as the Improved Abizigal fight ( multi dragon fight, woot!) and here is what I've noticed.
1)SoA runs sluggish at times, and can become overloaded with graphics to the point of freezing during spell heavy fights or areas like the Temple District.
2) SoA often crashes when attempting to load / move between areas (such as new map, or just going into a building)
Now, this is either an issue with running these mods with the GOG version, or its a problem with the GOG version itself on my pc. I have tried clearing out the override file and replacing it with the un-modded original download, but I still get the crashes.
Any thoughts?
Like I said though, I resume searching the forums tomorrow

If you're running Windows 7, try turning on direct draw emulation and/or a compatibility mode.
Check out your option for BG2 and play around with the 3D settings for effects.

I'd start there.

Have you been to Beregost yet? You may have the Beregost crash bug. It typically strikes when you transition to a new area and causes crashes.
