I want to do a full install of Baldurs Gate to a portable usb drive. I've installed Fallout 1&2 as well as PS:T, and have been able to fully install all the games to my flash drive, move them to other computers, and play them fine. When I try this with BG, It works on my home computer but It only gives me the option to install the game when I use the drive in other computers. I've changed the ini file touse the correct path for the game, but i just can't get it to work on another system. Any suggestions? Thanks!

run from BGMain.exe, that should bypass the 'Install' screen.
Tried that, BGMain doesn't do anythig when I attempt to run it...

Strange, it should. BGMain.exe is the file that starts the game, baldur.exe is just a launcher. Did you run it with administrator privileges?

I forgot it's ToTSC. There are two 'main' files: BGMain and BGMain2
Second one doesn't work either?

You installed it with TotSC expansion?
Edit: Maybe something is wrong with my memory, I'll just reinstall it and check.

Edit2. No, I was correct. But running from either works for me :(
Well, we'll just have to keep looking...

Full fresh install for me: 2.51 GB, 854 files

Remember to run the installer as administrator (right click on file->Run as) as well.

I just did fresh install of BG on my PC, moved it to my netbook, changed paths in baldur.ini and run from BGMain2.exe -> works without hitch (BGMain.exe starts the game as well)

Which means, it is possible: we just have to find what's stopping your game from working.
Thanks for the help. I reinstalled, and everything works great! I suggest everyone who wants to install any of the infinity engine games to a portable usb drive to edit the .ini and edit the games paths by deleting the drive letter all togeather, so that every time you plug in into a new pc (changing the drive letter), it just looks in the default folder on the stick...

Well, good to hear that.
Enjoy your (portable) game :)
