Hello !

I run BG on Linux (Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit) via Wine.
Often when a movie pops up (like the into movies) the game crashes.

I've tried to disable all the movies in the Baldur.ini file by changing all the 1 to 0 in the "Movies" section and making the file read only, but it didn't work and I still have the intro movies that crashes the game.

How can I totally disable all the in game movies in BG ?

This is re-posted from the Bioware forums, so I can't take credit for this.

What I did do though was go into the movies directory. I renamed the movies files and replaced them with a renamed txt file.

I was trying to get into Beregost, the Beregost file is Moviecd2.bif. I renamed it to aMoviecd2.bif and created a new txt file and called it Moviecd2.bif.

I don't see why it wouldn't work on Linux systems. And remember, Google is your friend!

woo-hoo! necroing an 11 year old thread! I really do have a good reason.

Tried this "solution" on the latest working version as of the date of this post. Creating a new text document and renaming it to whatever movie you trying to skip just locks up the game and generates a crash report.

Renaming the files in the movie folder works perfectly, however.

So to skip the intro Beamdog logo and intro and resting movies I did this.

Rename

intro.wbm
intro15f.wbm
logo.wbm
rest.wbm
restdung.wbm
restinn.wbm

to

OLDintro.wbm
OLDintro15f.wbm
OLDlogo.wbm
OLDrest.wbm
OLDrestdung.wbm
OLDrestinn.wbm

rename them back the originals (obviously) if you want a specific movie to show up again.

and no more annoying movies! Hope this helps someone.
