i did encounter 2 groups but were unrelated.

but the quests part couldn't be installed because it says something like COPY_TRANS knight #1 already have state 1-out of range..
so that may be the reason ...

is there an order to the installation of the mods that make them work better. i'm actually only interested in the kagain quest-if anyone know of a video recording on youtube that's great.

Unfinished Business does not add any bandits. All it does it what you experienced: adds the body of the boy and makes Kagain notice it. It also adds a Silvershield heirloom that you can pick up. It identifies the boy as a Silvershield and will allow you to tell Skie's mother (in the Silvershield estate in Baldur's Gate) the bad news. That is it. That is all the mod adds because that is all that was originally left out of the game. The entire point of the quest is to find Entar Silvershield's son. It originally came with the BGT tweak pack whose readme states:

"Finding the son of Duke Entar Silvershield is not a futile wander unless the player waits too long..."

That is a clue that you have a time limit or the body will not be found.

Note that BG1NPCs has it's own version of the Kagain quest, that is why you are getting that error. It's a conflict.

If installed in the right order at least one of the mods will be aware of the conflict and not install that component.

Also, I suggest not installing the "Duke Eltan is at home" component, since it adds nothing but confusion.

oh i see. but where is that heirloom? didnt it say it was on one of the bandits?

do you know if the save games with tutu will work after a clean install?
and will the save game allow me to progress the quest with kagain...?

What do you mean by that? A clean install without TuTu? If so, absolutely not. Otherwise the quest has nowhere to progress to: you've found the boy. That's it. The only thing you haven't found is the heirloom.

ok i dont understand 2 things-
1. if i do a clean install-then install tutu and bg1 npc project-can my old save game work? or I have to restart a new game?

1. Technically yes. Though any mods previously installed that are omitted will have their content missing and may cause issues in the quest logs. If you restart with different mods it's always best to start a clean game.

2. No. Unfinished Business does one thing and one thing only: When you get to Coast Way it spawns the dead body and sets a timer of one day to find it. Ideally you want Kagain in your party when you do, so that the dialog with Kagain will trigger. That. Is. It. Nothing more.

The heirloom (called a fibula) and the bandits are added by BG1NPCs. Their readme summary says:

"Kagain's Quest starts from two points, but involves Bandits, Murder, and Mayhem. It is realtively short, but has an added payoff when you get to Baldur's Gate. It can be both initiated and completed with or without Kagain, thoug obviously there is more dialogue and it makes more of a story if Kagain is in the party at least until the basic portion of the quest is completed."
I will try a clean install then, got nothing to lose.
it is funky because many people said they installed both UB and BG1npc- but i think you are right-those are the same people that had problems with that quest!
there's no quest really, except Kagain's remark and being able to return the heirloom to the mother. UB and BG1NPC play fine together.

Sorry, I missed the part where you said quests couldn't be installed. Might be TuTu related, on BGT it's fine for me.
The heirloom is on bandit's leader, west part of the map.
