I remember playing the game on my old disc version and I know that the ring was there for me. Now I am playing through the game, classic version from GOG (Polish translation if that is important) and the ring isn't there! I tried looking up the exact location (as in X and Y) on the internet and look for it by repeatedly pushing L key but even matching the exact location did not work - there's no ring there, not even a container. Is this a weird bug? I've heard the ring should be there when you are playing tales of the sword coast version, but we all know GOG version is this version so I am not sure what causes this.

All I can tell you is that it's there in my version (gog, classic, not EE) but I also tend to play in BGT (using BG2 engine) so I don't know if that makes a difference (been a while since I played original BG1)

The very original BG1 had NO button to show up items/containers.

Every known version had the same nooks (unless EE changed some, but that's not the question here).

My suggestion is to look up ina let's play where the nook (container) is, and find the same location in your game to be absolutely sure it is missingatyours. Don'trely on simple x,y coordinates.
You know, if you really *really* do not have this cache available (and you don't have any mods running) then there's likely something wrong with your installation. You should verify your files, if you use galaxy. Or re-download/re-install, if you are an offline user (like me).
The cashe is very small. (only a few pixels wide)
You can find it to the east of the entrance to the keep near the bottom of the screen at the base of a dark green coniferous tree.
Just below the tree are twoo rocks. The larger one is triangle shaped and the smaller one is to the south west of the larger one. The cashe is just above the smaller rock.

OR Cluaconsol it. Faster solution.
Thanks for the responses, but I don't think you really read what I wrote.

I've searched the area thoroughly. Wiggled my mouse around the tree, tried the coordinates, everything. But it's really not there.

I searched around the net and apparently versions of the game after 1.3.5512 don't have the ring. I have 1.3.5521.

I am going to try search for it in the English version of the game.

Well sure, but if his files are messed up then the missing ring is just the first part of his problems.

Files are NOT messed up, verified the game files and everything looks fine.

The cache with the ring is there in the English version of the game. I found it immediately and did not have any problem with getting to it. However, the cache seems to be missing in the Polish version of the game.

Dunno anything about Polish version -> who is responsible for it;who you could notify. You could start with a support ticket, though. GOG support might know how to proceed?

In any case, just make that ring using the console, as @twillight already mentioned.
I confirm that there is no Wing of Wizardy in the area with Friendly Arm Inn in the Polish version, but it is in the English version. I ran into that issue a while ago... Kind of weird...
The Polish CD version has the ring there, an oversight I guess.

Just checked it in the English version from GOG. Imoem's now wearing it as a dual thief, mage. But it isn't boosting her memorized spells. May have to wait until she levels up?????

Don't know will have to wait, and see?

Cheers Bob.
Sorry folks' files too big. 50%.

But getting to this spot in front of the Friendly Arm Inn. You should see the blinking light from pressing TAB.

Cheers Bob.

Bob-NZ: The opening post says "BG1 classic". I see Neera in your screenshot, so it looks like you are playing the Enhanced Edition. The ring is known to be present in the English version of the Enhanced Edition.

As to your problem with Imoen, that seems unrelated to this thread. I suggest you start a new thread, and show also a screenshot of Imoen's Report page and her Wizard Book for level 1 spells.
