I played most of Bioware games but BG is something new for me and since It seems this is the best rpg ever made Im getting the game and I would love to do the campaign in co-op mode with other players, is that possible?

P.S.

If it was one, I would happily join ya.
If it was one? It's not possible?

To connect Baldur's Gate One to Baldur's Gate 2? Nope.
Oh you meant BG1, my bad! Anyway I started the game with an elf archer mainly going for TWF with flails I suppose. Anyone knows a good build? Looks like ranger/cleric should rock.

It IS possible, you just need a mod called Baldur's Gate Trilogy to make it work. You can find it here

Frankly, if you play tactically and understand the 2nd edition system (it can be non-intuitive at times) you can finish the game with any build, especially since the PC is just one of six party members.

That being said, if your PC dies, it's game over, so a build with high hp and good defensive capabilities is best. A mage dual or multi class is the most effective (fighter is most popular choice for 2nd class but rogue or cleric works well too) because when you know how to use it arcane magic is overpowered, especially on defense.

But any high hp class with some additional defenses will work (berserker, paladin, ranger/cleric are good choices).

Thank ya
I've heard of many multiclassing their ranger into cleric in BG2. Anyone knows how many levels of ranger and cleric I should have on my character? Consider the toon is elf and i picked the standard ranger kit. Plus i boosted DEX and CON mainly, assuming i could raise STR with items mostly.

I think around level 9 is a good time to dual, but your character has to be human to dual-class.

As for the strength from items thing, there are a few belts and gloves in BG2, and a certain warhammer that everyone loves. However, you do miss out on "extraordinary strength" (the extra numbers after the 18) until you get the items.
