I'm planning to start BG1 through EasyTutu again and had 2 questions i'm hoping someone can answer.

1)
Is the Widescreen mod we use on BG1 and BG2 compatible with EasyTutu? all i've heard are "maybe's" but no definitive yes or no.

2)
I'm assuming that BG2 classes can be easily played in BG1 through EasyTutu, but how playable are they? i mean, some might be at a disadvantage since there won't be any items specific for that class, right? like the Monk for example, there won't be any Monk specific items in BG1 for that class.

3) Kind-of a bonus question, i'm more familiar with D&D 3.0 and higher, so not too sure on this one. Do characters use whatever attribute (Strength or Dexterity) is higher to determine their AB? like in Neverwinter Nights, you can pick the Weapon Finasse feat to use your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier to determine your AB, does it work the same way in BG1 or 2? Furthermore, does Dexterity even affect your AC in BG1 and 2 like it does in Neverwinter Nights?

Thanks!

Can't help with 1 or 2, but I can tell you about 3.

Strength affects melee damage and chance to hit (aka THAC0). Dexterity affects ranged chance to hit. No abilities are available to change that. Dex does affect your AC, and armor doesn't restrict the AC bonus gained from dex, which means it's a good idea to have max dex on every character.

The widescreen mod works fine with easytutu. Also the BG2 Fixpack and Tweakpacks available from gibberlings three have some tweaks for tutu.

As for using the new classes, I played through with a monk relatively easily. It can be tricky though, as a lot of the classes special ablilities' only show up at higher levels than what you can reach in BG1. Some of the kits are ridiculously overpowered for BG1, I'm thinking specifically of the archer kit for rangers.
Thanks.

Off topic, but since i don't want to spam the forums, anyone have any idea why the game is kinda laggy? BG1 by itself runs fine, but anything BG2 runs kinda choppy.

This is a fairly common bug. You'll either want to turn off Soft Shadows in the graphics options, or turn off 3D acceleration entirely from the configuration tool. IMO the game actually looks better WITHOUT the acceleration on, since it's not really a 3D game anyway. My old Nvidia card from 1999 did the same thing back when BG2 was new.

Thanks a lot, i don't know how to turn soft shadows off, but turning 3D Accelaration off helped.
As barry said, the widescreen mode works great with EasyTutu. And if you want a more nostalgic experience, you can even take it a step further and use LadeJarl's Original BG1 UI for BG1Tutu , which is a blessing for people like me who get all teary-eyed at the sight of that original stone interface and can't imagine playing BG1 without it :-P

The other mods I use are BG1 Unfinished Business and One Pixel Productions. Oh, and G3 Level 1 NPC's is nice for adjusting the NPC's starting proficiencies, which are changed (sometimes in nonsensical ways IMO) by EasyTutu to accommodate the BG2 engine.

I also use one of the fonts from Ghostdog's PS:T UI Mod to make the dialog window a bit easier on the eyes.

This is what my BG1 looks like.

The stone interface doesn't really matter as much to me (first time i ever even played BG1 was earlier this year) and i'm just about finished wrapping up the game with my friend, so on a second playthrough, the interface won't matter as much :P
