This game is simply wonderful. It's so rare nowadays that they sell copies on certain websites for roughly $300 and some are going for 2000$. This game is precious, I have known it for a long time and I will protect it with my life. Hopefully all of the features in the good old PC version is retained because the PC version at the time was the best. Being able to make your own custom hero was one of the great features.

Although the first iteration was way more immersive for me (probably because it carried some movie memories). This one had way more interesting mechanics, monsters and stories and allowed to dive into the world of books. Really enjoyed it!

its a childhood gem of mine that i allways have come back to, it is so mutch fun to make a massive army of orcs, goblins, dragons or trolls and just desemate your enemys with numbers and power, its really easy to pick up and play and easy to learn with its rock-paper-siscors gameplay where you can play with your favorit heroes and villains, hell you can even have sauron on the field to destroy everything with or make your very own hero to save the day, i would give anything to get this game a remaster and have it on GOG, its shutch a fantasitc game

didint played this one as much as the first game, but would love to return there without any hussle on modern day computers. get the licence and make those games playable and forever!
Like the first "Battle for Middle-Earth" game, this is one my favourite RTSes. Again, you can play on either the "Good" or "Evil" side, but this time your choices are expanded to play as Humans, Dwarves, Elves, Goblins, Orthanc (where Saruman lives) or Mordor. It's a fun, high-energy game in any case. The first game follows the movies pretty closely. The second tells the story of what happens while the Fellowship is away on their quest. What made this game unforgettable for me were not only the battles (which are awesome!), but also the fact that you can play a "Risk"-style campaign across Middle-Earth, where you strive to take your opponent's capital (e.g. Orthanc, Mordor, The Shire etc.) You can also play "Skirmish"-style battles, where you not only fight your opponents, but also -- if you're lucky enough to find and slay Gollum -- you can command the One Ring to summon special allies. (I won't spoil it). :-) I would also recommend the expansion, "The Rise of the Witch-King", which tells the story of the Witch-King of Angmar and his rise to power. (If you remember the films, the Witch-King fights Gandalf at Minas Tirith and ends up killing Theoden, only to be slain by Eowyn and Merry, at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields). But where did he come from, and what did he do? This expansion answers that, and a lot more. Like the first game, this is an awesome RTS, full of action and planning, and very immersive too. Two thumbs up, way up!

The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II need to be preserved. It is a masterpiece of the video game industry and continues with beautiful graphics even though it is an old game and great gameplay.

The first Battle for Middle-earth was great, and the co-op of this game was even better because it offered more options and, I seem to recall, a more stable network code. Leveling the heroes and unlocking their special abilities was a lot of fun, and the management of the conquest world map, with its troop movements and garrisons added so much that a linear campaign couldn't. All in all definitely one of the greatest RTS games I've played.

I would give you arm and a leg for a chance to buy this gem. Used to play it with my friends back in the school days. We´ve had so much fun. One of the best RTS of its time (and maybe even now). It bugs me you can´t buy this game anymore. Please. Make it happen.

This game truly expanded on what made first game so good (except mashing Rohan and Gondor as a single faction), original music rivaled score made by Howard Shore and story was fun. Expansion was even better. Truly magical games.

Unfortunately, this game can't be replaced. This is a great wound in our hearts. A AAA quality remake is our biggest hope. What I saw on the screen when I used that 10 level ability for the first time after leveling Gandalf to 10 was priceless.
Those games also need your vote!

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.

The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age
The Lord of the Rings: The Third AgeThe Lord of the Rings:The Third Age introduces entirely new characters which aren't mentioned in the books or movies. The game does relate to the movies by including scenes from all three movies, with new background speech by Ian McKellen (Gandalf). There are seven playable characters in the game which have been created specifically for it, as well a small appearances by characters such as Gandalf, Aragorn, Eowyn, Faramir, and Gothmog. The game covers events in all three movies/books, mostly with references to major events shown through cut scenes, or the scenes from the movies with Ian McKellan's narration. A classic RPG game, The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age has gameplay elements similar to Final Fantasy, where you have a party of characters, each with a different set of skills and attributes, who gain levels, making them stronger as the game progresses. Battles are turn-based, and let the gamer make different decisions on what they want to do to change the outcome of the battle. The game travels through many areas throughout Tolkien's Middle Earth, including The Pelennor Fields and Moria.
