I grew up with these virtual pets and loved them to pieces. In a way, these guys are a key part of the 90s. Naturally when they made a PC game, I was ecstatic! So I played it and it was essentially what you'd expect: You raise a critter from either generation of the original Tamagotchi toys, but much more animated and with way more personality than the original toys could properly convey.
Saving this game might well be one of the easier, quicker, and low effort ones too- the game as it is almost runs perfectly fine even on Windows 11! I say almost because the only issue it has is it loses all your data the second you restart/turn off your computer. If Gog can fix this issue, the rest of the work is literally done for them and its fully playable and enjoyable! Please Gog- do this one thing and let us raise our 90s pets into this newer era without them being killed by something that isn't our neglect.
This game is very fun, i've raised many pets in it. A Mimitchi, Ginjirotchi, Mametchi, and i'm currently raising a Pochitchi. I used to mess with it in a VM along with my cousin, we would leave the pet in the care center, skip a few days and see which character we got. I think we managed to get a Zatchi once this way.
I developed a tool that can backup and load the game's registry data, and it seems to trick Windows 10 into not deleting the registry data during shutdown after you save and load once. I haven't gotten it to trick W11 though. I hope this game makes it to GOG fully working :)
