More free games / freeware (like Beneath a Steel Sky, Tyrian 2000, Ultima 4, etc.)
"Proletariat scum wanting free games? How communist"! What an idiotic capitalist statement!
"Give us free stuff. No idea where the money for that comes from, but we want everything to be free". Socialist idiocy at its finest. Same morons who vote for Bernie Sanders.
A section or a category DLC to separate the expansions of the Free games
Nah, buy em! Support GOG so they can keep being awesome.
I would be willing to pay a token amount for a freeware game if I have the benefit of GOG's curation of the best freeware games, and automatic updates in GOG Galaxy. This would be an easy way for GOG to greatly expand their catalog, and add value to free games with GOG's unique features and services. Furthermore, it will help GOG identify games that might be worthy of a commercial (non-free) sequel, and it will establish GOG as the game developer's preferred publisher or distributor.
The business case for adding freeware games to GOG's catalog seems to be very low risk, with high indirect benefits to GOG's business.
Little freebies were a pleasant surprise and I really should finish Beneath a Steel Sky. If you can add more free abandonware GOG, please do.
OMF 2097, Alien Carnage/Halloween Harry, SimCity 1, Abuse, Dreamweb, Heroine's Quest, etc. - I believe these are all highly-desired freeware titles not yet here.
Scorched Earth (Hell, I'd buy that for a Dollar!) and SkyRoads
The Tribes game and the calssic shootyer Abuse are perfect to add in this way
I support that, but we have to realize that Gog is a commercial Platform and that the People behind it have to make a Living from it. So I think it would be nice to get a free Game like Bio Menace recently with a nice Installer, but I wouldn't be angry if it happens only from Time to Time...
I see the Addition of those Freeware-Titles as a Gift to the Customers (or a Bonus if you want to see it like that), nothing more...
the Starsiege: Tribes just got released as freeware, and they should totally be on GOG!
EA still owns C&C because they still sell the game as well it's not even abandoned (https://www.origin.com/en-us/store/buy/c-c-the-ultimate-collection/pc-download/bundle/standard-edition)

Renegade X: Black Dawn (spinnoff game in command and conquer world)
If you're saying "free" as in "pirated but not actively sued", then the whole ultima series was freely distributed among fans for years after EA basically abandoned the series and forgot about it. It was never in danger of being forgotten or lost in time. Though the source codes were lost.
Abandonia was hosting Ultima 7 Complete, before GOG got the license to sell it, then it started linking to GOG because it's their policy. So having it on GOG didn't really benefit fans or the original devs. And if they were 100% free all the time, they won't benefit GOG too.
Impractical, pointless. Unless it's for really obscure unloved games from the past.

There are a ton of old classics (ex-commercial) that have been released as freeware in recent years. I am disappointed that GOG does not seem to be very interested in bringing them here. Doing so would not directly increase revenue, but would indirectly do so since more people would come to the site for the freebies. Also, it would give long-forgotten games more exposure, which is what GOG is all about. All at minimal cost/effort to GOG.
I would PAY to have nice installers for ex-commercial titles like Flight of the Amazon Queen so yes, please add them too :)
@ tfishell When you say 'freeware', do you mean ex-commercial titles only? Or did you mean free Indie titles as well?
I would love to see more ex-commercial titles on GOG. For a few ex-commercial titles that are now legally freeware see:scummvm.org/downloads/#extras www.remaininplay.com/ Wikipedia provides a list of ex-commercial titles (with hyper links). See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_commercial_video_games_released_as_freeware I add that most of these titles are not worth playing.
Yes, please add games that became freeware like the following ones : - Abuse - Adventures of Maddog Williams in the Dungeons of Duridian - Battlecruiser 3000AD V2.0 - Battlecruiser Millennium - BC Racers - Bio Menace - Boppin' - Championship Manager: Season 01/02 - Death Rally - Defender of the Crown - Dink Smallwood - Dreamweb - The Elder Scrolls: Arena - The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall - Electro Man - Enemy Nations - Flight of the Amazon Queen - Grand Theft Auto - Grand Theft Auto 2 - Halloween Harry - Inner Worlds - It Came From The Desert - Ken's Labyrinth - King of Chicago - Mad TV - MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries - One Must Fall: 2097 - onEscapee - Railroad Tycoon Deluxe - Rocket Ranger - Sango Fighter - S.D.I - Sinbad and the Throne of the Falcon - SkyRoads - Stargunner - Starsiege: Tribes - Star Control II - S.W.I.N.E. - The Three Stooges - Treasure Island Dizzy - Tribes 2 - TV Sports Baseball - TV Sports Basketball - TV Sports Boxing - Warzone 2100 - Wild Metal Country - Xargon
There are a lot of freeware games available already, but it would certainly be nice to be able to gather them all here. liberatedgames.com/gamelisting.php
DX-Ball, Flight of the Amazon Queen, Xargon, etc.
I second Death Rally. Also N: -www.metanetsoftware.com/
@Dassie14 Weird historical reasons, most likely: for some reason, IV has been made freely downloadable before. www.thatfleminggent.com/ultima/u4download.html
could you make Ultima 1-5(or 6) free because I dont see why Ultima 4 is for free but the previous ones aren't it doesn't make sense and making them free will attract more customers
I want One Must Fall: 2097, I can't get any of the versions out there to work on Win7 no matter what I do.
Use Paypal. You're bank will allow that.
Games like Death Rally and NetStorm come to mind. Both would probably be able to attract more people to Gog.
More free games attracts more people to GOG, think of all the people who got steam when TF2 went F2P...
Also, for those of us who can't make purchases from this site because our banks don't allow it.
