Osakadows It is tricky for the dutch to obtain credit cards becouse our banks demand a high salery. So in general they pay with Ideal Steam has started allowing IDeal Perhaps gog should follow

JClosed Well - For now I halted buying games here on GOG until the issue is resolved. I bought a LOT of games on GOG, but using other payment options is simply cumbersome or jumping through hoops.
Until this issue is resolved I am afraid GOG has lost it's status as my primary games buying platform.
Peche iDeal needs to come back.

GMuitjens I contacted GOG customer support and got exactly the same reaction as "DutchDesignGuide", being:
"Due to technical difficulties on the side of the payment provider, it is currently not possible to use iDeal as a payment method, and we have disabled this option on our platform.
Unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to say when this problem will be resolved. Please consider using other payment methods in the meantime.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding."
I asked for some feedback from GOG support on either an iDeal comparable solution (so no third party involvement, based on debit not credit) or some info on " technical difficulties on the side of the payment provider", but have received no feedback.

insego Was about to pay for my order, but could not find iDEAL any more. Tried two different webbrowsers and GOG Galaxy. No information about it at GOG Support. Guess my library won't see any new additions till this is resolved.
Dawwwg I loved the iDeal payment option and I really don't see how the payment provider can have issues with it; it's used by hundred of thousands websites and has been around for 20 years. Even AliExpress has it !

GMuitjens iDEAL gone? Is that new GOG policy or a bug? I hope it is the last case and GOG will restore iDEAL payment very soon. I prefer this option over all other payment methods. Iif it remains missing, GOG will loose me as customer.

I don't want to be stuck with so many payment accounts as much as I don't want to be stuck with DRM's for games.
iDeal was a good solotion because my bank natively supported that, manual bank transfer will also do, please throw me a bone.
Cascade BTW you can choose 'Sofort' that will end up with Klarna, I guess you can pay with iDEAL there?
IMHO Klarna is absolutely horrible as it encourages "credit"; payment afterwards, spread payment, also you have to register there? So no go for me at least.
Cascade I have always used iDEAL in the past, very convenient for Dutch customers.

Can we get an official message from Good Old Games were it says why it was removed, and if it coming back any time soon?
By the way, please note that iDEAL will be discontinued from 2026 onward; they are moving to a new system "Wero" suitable for all of Europe.
Althinor Still no iDeal even when switching between USD and EUR a couple times. Please restore that option, as all the others are unavailable for many people. I prefer not to be dependent on more third party accounts when ordering things online.

I have been using iDeal since it has been available on GoG. I can still pay using PayPal, but I prefer iDeal (or later, Wero, after its introduction) over things such as PayPal or credit card.
I pay in this order: iDeal, Apple Pay (if the store accepts a bank card and not just credit/debit card), or PayPal, in that order.
DutchDesignDude I bought most, if not all, my GOG games via iDeal; I'm not gonna use Credit cards (way too expensive) or PayPal (they use debanking to force political compliance). So at the moment I won't be buying from GOG anymore unless a better option is presented.
The removal of iDeal is a very bad for GOGs European players.

Dududil I'd like IDEAL to come back to GOG as well. The rest of the payment options are just inconvenient. IDEAL was the perfect solution till it was removed.

W3irdN3rd Same problem here. I used iDeal to get a PaySafeCard to use on GOG. It's a bit cumbersome but it works.
JClosed iDeal is completely gone and I am forced to use PayPal. This is VERY inconvenient, and I would like to see iDeal returned as fast as possible!!!

Once I changed currency from USD to EUR....ideal appeared :)

Banks will NOT support you if you get into trouble when you use IDEAL through sofort, as they specifically warn you against entering your login info and authentication codes on another form then their own IDEAL form.
While they do not block it, fact remains that if somehow more then you wanted was deducted or your account is misused, you are on your own and liable for any costs the bank incurs, as well as any money deducted from your account.
I would not risk using sofort under these circumstances. Proper IDEAL integration is the only reliable way. And c'mon, even small one-man webshops manage to implement it.....
Thunderdog6000 For anyone who might look at this for answers. Sofort seems to work just like IDEAL(worked for me with Rabobank and scanner), so if you have Rabobank Sofort will probably work for you as well.

Avorem Payment using Ideal is very much awaited. I prefer GOG to buy (DRM) games, but having no easy IDeal payment option here usually makes me buy games on Steam in the end.
matema Wanted to buy for 50€ worth of games today, but there was no iDeal payment option. Steam has been using iDeal for a long time. GOG should get up to speed! - now I have to spend my money elsewhere :P

My bank does not support direct paypal payments and having to make 2 'jumps' with my money (first from my account to paypal, then from paypal to here) with all appropriate delays to get it here... its just too much hassle. Sofort works like ideal, but my bank makes it absolutely clear that such payments are not officially approved. They warn against entering my login info on anything but their own page (such as ideal does) and notified me that if any damages or problems occur due to my using sofort.. i'm on my own.
And no, im not changing banks and the attached insurances and other stuff, nor will i ope another account somewhere at high yearly costs just because some gaming platform doesnt add ideal, im weird like that... sorry ;)
So alas, i'd really like to use GOG, as it seems a far friendlier system/company then steam. (apart from the payment options, that is)
But me not being able to pay in a convenient and swift way, kinda breaks the ( I )deal. Too bad, you often have better deals then steam, and even at equal or slightly higher price id prefer GOG, but the way things are, ill just have to wait until steam has a sale, and just give the games i want that you have but steam doesnt a miss for now.

Fronko32 Ideal payment would be "ideal" for people to use. I don't have a creditcard and I don't want to get one, only because I want to purchase some games once in a while.
Lethalvriend I voted for this ages ago, in the netherlands most online transactions do go through iDeal and pretty much any big store in the netherlands supports it because it's a userfriendly method of paying online without owning a credit/debitcard. As stated before, Blizzard, Steam, EA and so on all offer iDeal payment methods and I hope one day GoG will too. I'm in a similar boat as others, all my GoG games were free, retail or gog-connected.
JvCooper I havent bought any game yet because of this. And I think a lot more people are missing this option. It would be a win-win if they add it. Hopefully soon!
From_Dutch About 60% of online payments in the Netherlands is done using iDEAL (or so they say). Most other game clients like steam, origin, uplay or battle.net accept ideal payments. Which is why the only games I own on GOG were either free or bought in a retail shop (witcher3). So I feel like GOG is shooting itself in the foot by not supporting this.
I sent them an email about this, they said they'd look into it. So who knows...
