TheOmitter I don't want to have to worry about my privacy when purchasing anything from GOG. Make sure such products are not distributed here. This is no DRM, but equally bad.

ElDoRado1239 I'm torn on this. All such games should definitely contain a prominent warning at the top of their store page, so that people know before they buy it or run it.
Even better, demand extra confirmation when adding to cart, or when checking out - "Your cart contains these games that use these DRM systems. Click HERE for more information. Please confirm."
But if that's the only way for a game to be here, it's better than nothing.
In.Vader The thing about Redshell is that devs often use it and put a vague description of what data is collected into the user agreement. In the EU, this is not GDPR compliant as far as I know.
That being said, as long as the data collection is limited to gameplay analysis in multiplayer to get map usage data and such, it's a very good tool for developers to balance and refine their multiplayer games, so I don't think it needs to be banned. I think making it an opt-in feature (like most other software) and putting a proper big red disclaimer everywhere - including the store page - should be fine.

drmsux Agreed. DRM is a subset of malware. So is spyware. Why should one "acceptable" while the other isn't?

Steam does it by default and their anti cheat was looking at what websites you've looked at.

fridgeband I agree so much. Permanent ban on DRM, and spying on users. Also I think that "anonymous data collection" should be restricted to always be set to the "off" position upon installing any game, so that it can't spy on the users before they disable it, even if they rush to disable it very quickly right after installing the game.
SanJacobs I'd prefer a warning, rather than a ban. Some people prefer playing the game over their privacy, and that should be ok :)
pleasenoname When i get organic food there is a label certifying that the food is organically grown without pesticide. There should be a similar certification company that labels games are free of DRM , a company that tests for the various methods of data collection and DRM or just plain amateur snooping.
cmba2 Do you have proof of any games that have this problem currently on gog? If you do then take it up with them because this would be a serious issue and against gog standards. What do you think DRM is?
Histfire Yeah spying is bad but also, companies like EA that sell through GOG states that they will collect your personal information and use it for marketing purposes. So, ye, avoid them as well.
