Release the GOG Galaxy client for linux
+1
I play on linux and i have so much problems to start a game from gog. I bought 2 games again on epic and steam and could play them without problems, so its definitly a gog problem.
Very sad, that such a great sourch of drm free games have so less interesst in supporting gamin on linux

GOG and Linux should be an instant match, yet there's no client for Linux. The philosophies of open source and game preservation go hand in hand. Release a flatpak, please.
so much content i dont buy from u cause u still have no option for linux usrers
It's really sad that a company passionate about preserving games drm-free doesn't care a bit about their open source brothers and sisters :/
I gave up on this ages ago and the latest release of Heroic games launcher stated they have a partnership with GoG. I don't know if that means they're officially backing it too but it did say that they get a commission for games bought in the GoG store through Heroic. Apparently GoG doesn't care one bit about Linux gamers for the most part so I'm settling for alternatives. I don't buy much from GoG anymore anyway with their promise of "soon" for Linux with Galaxy and then it just disappeared.
and they still haven't added this...
i wonder why they didn't do this yet...
no drm spirit goes linux, don't miss that !
AvatarNg, multiple games on gog have to use gog galaxy to play multiplayer such as quake ii. so yea we need gog galaxy because if nt many multiplayer gog games will not be playable on linux.

How is it that in 2024 there is no GOG for Linux? Old school gamers love Linux, GOG you are missing out!
There's a huge overlap between the people who use Linux and those who care about DRM. It's not a small ask but official client with integrated proton like Steam has would make it so much easier.
use minigalaxy instead, gog don’t bother making it, a miss opportunity!

I definitely +1 this idea! The way that I would do it is to increase the level of integration with Lutris. Lutris, so far, has run everything that I've thrown at it. All of my games, windows or Linux, work great there, but it doesn't connect to GOG's server for achievements or multiplayer.
Heroic sucks, official support would go a long way here.
The only thing preventing me from moving more towards GOG is that there isn't even a Linux client for Galaxy. Thought I'd check back in in 2024, but it looks like nothing changed. Real shame ...
+1 I switched to Debian 2 years ago and I would like to play Good Old Games. :) Lutris is nice but a GoG client would be better.

I switched to Linux entirely and i wish i could just download games through GOG. I wanted to support the devs of Cyberpunk 2077 directly but now, from a perspective, i would rather have my game on Steam.

Make a gui in gtk that allow for downloads, cloud-saves and achievements -- It doesn't have to be pretty, open source or have a built-in shop. But pleeeeease!
I'm currently on a Chromebook that can also use the Steam Beta. He's being asked for, just so it. r_r

+1 from me.
But I doubt we will ever see official Galaxy support for Linux. There are open-source alternatives like Minigalaxy, Heroic, and Lutris that GOG could have supported by providing access to APIs, etc., to prevent the need for developing it themselves from scratch. The open-source community could have handled that for them, but unfortunately, GOG does not seem to be interested. As a result, I've lost faith, and this is one of the reasons why I haven't fully switched to GOG, to be honest. Steam remains my preferred Linux gaming store and platform because they offer 100% Linux support, whereas GOG provides only 10%.

This should have been done years ago.
pretty please. even better, if you make it open source!
no fancy complicated ui needed, not even store integration needed, the website is good enough for that :)
we need this to be able to compete with steam and their anti-consumer model

My main concert as a game developer who works on Linux is that at the moment, GOG Galaxy and GOG SDK only works on Windows (and Mac maybe).
This is a bummer. Our whole toolchain for all other platforms (Steam, Itch, FireFlower Games, GameJolt) all work natively on Linux. All our automation is built on a Unix environment.
Currently struggling to bring our achievements and full support on GOG, having to change everything and learning a whole new environment.
Funny enough, you can deploy from Linux, but you can't develop games that seize GOG's marketplace and community features.
Supporting Linux development shouldn't be an option in 2023, with the penguin sustaining 90% of the cloud infrastructure and dev tools out there.
Hope this will come soon.
The GOG client on linux and a possibility to customize the 'run' call per instance would suffice for a start. Users could then figure out the proper calls to run games via proton (or wine).
Heroic Games Launcher.
Just sacked my Win 10 due to crap data policy and info theft the OS allows. So I guess Steam on Manjaro is Yep, and Nope.. not going to do windows just to have gog, seems buying gog games was a mistake and the delibrate removal or hiding of the linux client even just to download the gams, means gog (..and subsquent purchase of games on gog) is now dead to me . . .

One more thought... Valve didn't do all that work on Steam to make Linux games play for no reason. It is an expensive undertaking, just like it would be for GoG to make their Galaxy client do the same. They did it as there was a very real threat of MS taking the Apple jailed environment approach and only allowing apps to be installed from the MS Appstore. This was a checkmate move from Valve to MS to say you can play all these games on another platform. They then furthered it by making a hardware platform to increase adoption of playing games on Linux and to make people aware that you could. These were self preservation tactics only, not tactics to be kind to Linux people.
