Option to NOT tell friends when you start a game completed
I'm currently logged in and set to "Invisible"? I don't know how new, this is but it seems to exist now.
Can't we just download the game and then disable internet for as long as we are playing that game? Would people still know what game we're playing? I genuinely want to know.
What do I want to hide? Maybe I am a parent and don't want my kids to see that I play certain games? Maybe I don't want to be nagged by some "friends" to play the game I just don't feel like at the moment? Maybe I don't want my colleague/boss from work to see that I'm playing in my free time? There can be millions of legitimate reasons for having a private mode.
Dear GOG,
Thank you for notifying whole world and then some about me launching She Will Punish Them.
Well... since it's not a secret anymore I'm complaining about it here.
I just learned about this "feature". Seriously, this is such a big privacy issue, I'm not gonna buy more games on GOG until we can disable this notification. WTH, GOG?
This really needs to be toggleable. I can't believe this is not possible already. GoG, what are you doing? Does s/o actually read this?
Personaly I feel that not being able to set which information is shared (like what games you own, what games you play and so on) with the people on the friends list is an "infringement on my privacy".
Sure in most cases it might be fine, but there's always users that are an exception:
1. Like that underage cousin that kept pestering you about adding him/her on your friend list.. that you actually don't want to share any information with, like games that you might have that are not appropriate for his/her age. What if he/she asks hes/her parents to buy that game for him/her despite the age rating? Seeing that you are actively playing that game is not exactly going to help.
2. Or that friend that you have from a certain game that you only talk about that game with, that you actually don't know too well outside that game and thus don't want to share your personal information with.
3. Or that lazy friend of yours that is actually okay when it doesn't come to gaming, but always asks for free power leveling if he/she sees that you have the same game as him/her in the library.
Sure people might be friends, but they are only friends to a certain degree and sharing everything with them might potentially even be dangerous. What if they couldn't be trusted or the friendship simply turned sour?
An option to choose wich activity uptades you want to show, and who can see them. And another option to configue each game's visibilty in your library.
Why? What are you hiding lol. Seriously though I do hide offline on Steam and BattleNet when I don't want to be disturbed so this option would be a good addition.
Yes and it would be nice to also have a feature to make ownership of some games private so my friends wont know I own them if they look in my profile. Steam and GOG has many games that I would like to buy but too embarrassed to announce to everyone that i have them.
Option to not to be logged in to the social system (while still being able to download/play games) would be great. Steam has this as well (Friends -> Offline).
This is one of the biggest reasons I don't use Steam, I don't want to tell LITERALLY EVERYONE that I am playing a game.
