Import STEAM library

Most gamers use STEAM as their primary games manager and the last thing we want is 2 different managers for our games library, at this point is easier to add my GOG games on STEAM, however if you manage to integrate our existing library into your client it would be awesome

Hi folks. Hope everyone is having a great week. GOG Galaxy 2.0 actually allows for letting people connect accounts. In the upper left-hand corner of GOG's third-party app, there's a gear, click on that, a box comes up with options such as "Add Games and Friends". From there go to such things as "Connect Gaming Accounts". If you click on "Connect Gaming Accounts" another box opens up that displays such things as "Integrations", "Features", "General", "Notifications", "Installing, Updating", etc. Under "Integrations" we find a variety of accounts to connect GOG to. Hope that helps.

Hey,

I've created a chrome extension that helps you to import your Steam wishlist to your GOG.com account.
chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/import-wishlist/jenjpehgcedkjfjmelkodhagcogpbmgl

The code is here: github.com/Daniel-Mendes/import-wishlist

It would be really great if the GOG cart would show if the game is already owned on STEAM. After all the connect accounts function should be good for something.

There should be a way to mark/report these as "Fulfilled" so they don't clog the feature request list.

It would be nice if GOG showed you all the games you owned (even non-installed ones).
In theory it should be possible to find the Steam game-IDs of a user by looking at their steam profile if it is set to public. With those IDs you should be able to launch/install the games through the Steam browser protocol.
For example, pasting <a href=""steam://run/292030/"" class="light_un" target="_blank">"steam://run/292030/"</a> in your browser should launch The Witcher 3.

You would still need to log in to Steam, but you'd be able to see all your games in one external client regardless of where you bought them.

I believe that both UPlay and Origin have similar browser protocols, but I don't know if you can import their games' IDs easily.

@Merranvo I think there are many features to platforms like Steam and GOG that justify their use, such as overlay, chat, cloud saves, a nice frontend, auto-updates, etc. I don't think it's fair to take a condescending tone with people because you launch your games from the OS. Furthermore, the issue is not whether to use the frontend, but the ability to add Steam games to GOG Galaxy, which I think would help a lot of people switch to Galaxy as their main, which would bolster the community and move the platform forward, i.m.o.

Uhh, you do realize it is EXTREMELY easy to add categories in the start menu? I have an entire folder system setup, even to the point where I install games in folders on my HD based on that system. The real problem is that you all don't know how to use a computer... If you want a more powerful application launcher than the start menu, find one you like and download that.

i was sad when i discovered i couldn't just add the game i bought on gog and activate it on steam to be run there with achivments and stuff but mainly because i use cheat programs for all my singleplayer games and they are usually only made for the steam versions so my gog game is useless to me now. because i thought gog was just an shop where i could buy the game cheaper for steam like some other online shops i have used before where i can buy steam games cheaper. these places are legitamate shops that lets you buy non steam games as well but some times you could get the game for steam cheaper there than on steam itself that is what i thought this place was.

About the creative suggestion to just using the windows start menu.

In my windows start menu i have only tools and programs like several different browsers, calculator, snipping tool, charmap, gimp and others. 400 games (200 games on gog + 200 games on steam) would not fit in there. Beside that. Galaxy and GOG have nice thumbnails. Those are superior to icons, because larger.

Additional to this in Steam and in GOG you can add categories and sort your games. you can click on a category and only those games in the category are shown.

With windows start menu you can not do this.

Windows start menu is only for people that have like five or six games but not more.

You have an application launcher in windows known as the start menu, learn how to use and organize it. There is even a search feature if you're too lazy to organize.

Why do you need all these different application launchers? One is enough, just learn how to use it.

This is the only thing that keeps pulling me back to Steam - It has all my games in one searchable place, and it means I can easily check whether I've already bought a game. I don't care whether GOG Galaxy can actually download or launch the games, but if I could search my Steam, Humble Bundle and GOG libraries all in one place, I'd be much more inclined to buy games on GOG.

that´s not all at all - it is awful annoying to always have to look up games in my steam library before buying them on GOG - I already bought 3 games twice cause I couldnt remember to have already bought them on steam - I can integrate GOG-titles into steam, which is a good start, but what about vice versa? Can it be so hard?

I believe it would be pretty easy for Galaxy to at least be aware of the game titles in your Steam Library using the Steam Web API (which they probably already use for the "GOG Connect" stuff anyway) and then it's trivial to provide a "launch game" feature. Personally, since most of my games are in Steam and GOG, just having the full list in one place would be handy, although Galaxy's "game list" is really only INSTALLED games at the moment. Also, given the size of the installed games list compared to the simple text of Steam's "Library" list, Galaxy's list might become overly cumbersome when you add all your Steam games (installed or not) to it.

I already had more than 1500 games on steam when the gog galaxy client beta was released and because of this I tend to stick to steam and add to my collection. I also buy a lot of bundles ( Humblebundle, indiegala, bundlestars etc.) They rarely give gog keys so because of all this it makes moving to gog very difficult. If I could move my collection to gog I definitely would.

To be honest I don't think this really matters or is relevant. If you have Steam downloaded then it's just a matter of launching Steam. This would only make sense to me if someone had so little space on their device then they could only choose Steam or GOG. And Steam can add non steam games so you could probably just use Steam.

What actually would really make sense, is if we could connect our GOG account with steam API to let Galaxy tell us, which of the games we already have in our Steam library and which ones we don't own yet. So you don't accidentally buy games twice. Then add a popup notification if any steam games are available in the reclaim programe. A nice tough would be a Voting button where you could vote for a game you own in steam to be added to the reclaim list. With the voting results CD Project has more leverage to go to the publishers and say "look" people who own your stuff want it on GOG, too...

Add a right-click dropdown menu entry "Buy on GOG" to non-GOG games added to the library as such, and add a priority to GOG's own installers/launchers in Galaxy. Then, with games not yet bought on GOG it would use the Steam/other launcher, but when bought on GOG it would re-link and use the GOG launcher instead. This should solve the problem.

This is never gonna happen mate. You're asking them to buy your Steam catalog as a gift on Galaxy. just wow!

Actually you can only wish them to give a copy of Witcher 3 if you already have it on Steam. Which is would be generous enough and I assure you that will happen after game release. Eventually they did same thing on W1 and W2.
