I don't know what's causing that problem for you but it's not on our end - we haven't made any changes on the servers or anything related that could cause this.
As for Update 2 It's coming but not as soon as some might be expecting. It's still in the "drawing board" phase and yes, it's pretty huge (way bigger than Update 1) so it will take some time before it will hit our live servers. I'm pretty sure you will see some other changes and improvements on the website before we will launch the Update 2.
