Story:The Path is a psychological horror art game developed by Tale of Tales originally released for the Microsoft Windows operating system on March 18, 2009 in English and Dutch, and later ported to Mac OS X by TransGaming Technologies.
It is inspired by several versions of the fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood, and by folklore tropes and conventions in general, but set in contemporary times. The player can choose to control one of six different sisters, who are sent one-by-one on errands by their mother to see their sick grandmother. This artistic experience deserves to be preserved. The game, built on an aging engine, is gradually deteriorating as its underlying logic breaks down over time. With every passing Windows update, its functionality erodes—figuratively speaking, of course. The risk of losing this game grows ever more real, especially since its creators were artists first and programmers second.
Given the era in which it was released, its story and presentation were truly unique. For these reasons, I strongly believe this game is a logical and deserving candidate for preservation under this program.
This was one of the most important games that changed my view of games and art. One of the most important of all. I've played it several times, trying to explore every detail of the game.
Despite its simplicity, it's a game that gave me a huge chill down my spine and a whirlwind of emotions as I understood each character.
This game deserves to have a DRM-Free international release. It is DRM-Free on itch, but if we have it on GOG it will reach more people.
This is a game that strongly changed my perception on what games could be. It could be not just entertainment, but experiences of art. The Path got me into trying out the more uncommon games out there, playing a lot of indie games, and always trying to see what the game I'm playing wants to tell me or have me experience. On its terms.
I remember wanting to get a physical copy of this game for my video game collection at the time. I never did, but there was an official physical copy available to purchase that came on a USB flash drive.

The game is set in fictional Europa, loosely based on Europe during the early years of World War II. Because of its abundance of Ragnite ore, which takes the place of petroleum in the game setting, the neutral nation of Gallia comes under attack from the East Europan Imperial Alliance, which is itself engaged in war with the Atlantic Federation. Players take control of a unit of the Gallian Militia, dedicated to repelling the invasion. Valkyria ChroniclesSet in a fictitious continent reminiscent of the 1930s, Valkyria Chronicles depicts Europe divided in two and ruled by two super powers: the Empire and the Federation.
