There's no other game like this!! I still remember my cousin's scratched CD crashing almost at the end of that one super long walk, I'm sure everyone who played the game know exactly which location I have in mind. What would I give to relive it! (without the crash of course)

The scene of opening the doors with a huge hammer has been imprinted in my memory for years, and I don't think it will ever come out. Gameplay wise this game is nothing special, it is a standard Point'N'Click Adventure game. However, the atmosphere and the abstract sense of humor that oozes from every possible nook and cranny make this game a one of a kind experience. I had an opportunity to replay it a few years ago, and it is even better then I remembered.

I own this game, on CD. It still works, but, in my humble opinion, we need more ways to play this absolute masterpiece, and I'd be very glad to see it conserved on GOG! I've been in love with this game ever since hearing about it as a kid, and it's amazing. It's not perfect, by any means, but it's lovingly made, and the charme is just something else. The graphics are one of a kind, a bit unnerving maybe, but just wonderful. It's desolate atmosphere is directly countered by Terry Scott Taylor's amazing work, the soundtrack is one of a kind and yes, it may be the weirdest stuff you'll ever listen to, but you know what? That only makes it way better. PLEASE, PLEASE get this game on GOG! I promise, people will love exploring the world of The Neverhood!

I think I only played this once while visiting my cousins. I spent hours on it and never finished, but it left a big impression. I’m not sure if it was the crazy visuals or the tough (for a kid) puzzles, but I’d love to revisit it when it’s on GOG.

This was one of my first ever games and it was (still is) fantastic. Love the clay visuals (all 3 tons of it), the soundtrack, silly moments and animation. Some puzzles were tough but the still fun. Would be great to have it in my digital collection.

This game is one of a kind. Released at the tail end of the golden era of point & click adventures, it had everything--great puzzles, amazingly bizarre soundtrack, fun exploration, weird story, unique animation style, and a ton of humor & heart. I must have played the demo 100 times before saving my pennies and ordering the CD-ROM (one of the first games I bought for myself in my youth)!

This was a game I grew up with. I first played it on my cousin's pc. He gave me his copy of The Neverhood. It was NOTHING like I ever seen before. The charm, the humor, the art style is what grabbed me.

I always followed my older brother’s lead as a child. He introduced me to click adventures and all sorts of art styles as he’s quite the creative type. He showed me The Neverhood when I was eleven in 2001. We had an old computer so we had to stick to games we could run. This game hit right when I was developing as a person and stuck with me. I listen to the soundtrack regularly and I’ve shown my kids the game and they love it so much they ask to listen to the music in the car.

Played the demo for this on my dad's computer and I remember feeling something akin to dread once you entered the exterior and the perspective shifted to first-person. The world in Neverhood felt simultaneously goofy and hostile, and it stayed with me forever. At a technical level, the sheer artistry that went into the set pieces, design, and music are more than worthy of preservation, they're worthy of celebration.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Dune

Dune blended adventure with economic and military strategy, and is considered by many the most immersive Dune computer game. Loosely following the story of the novel, the game casts the player as Paul Atreides, with the ultimate goal of driving the Harkonnen from Planet Dune, while managing spice extraction, military, and later, ecology through the native Fremen tribes. As the player progresses, his troops are equipped with weapons from "crysknives" to atomics, tap into Paul's latent psychic powers, and get acquainted with such characters from the book as Chani and Liet-Kynes.

Discworld
DiscworldDiscworld is a game released for PC (subsequently Mac, and Playstation) by Teeny Weeny / Perfect 10 studios in 1995. The game was released both on floppy disk and CD-Rom. The latter featured a commentary team created of many veterans of famous Brit-Coms. This included Monty Python's Eric Idle, Radio 4's (later to be more famous) Rob Brydon, ex- Doctor Who John Pertwee, 70s pop singer Kate Robbins, and Blackadder star Tony Robinson. The game is a riff on the Discworld title 'Guards, Guards', however many elements of the text have been shifted, not least the inclusion of Rincewind as protagonist. The game featured puzzles which were considered far too difficult and obtuse for gamers of the time, but the game itself has had a lasting legacy, now being accepted into such emulators as SCUMMVM.
