This was my first ever sonic game, my entry into the franchise, and everyone deserves a chance to play this delightful mess of a game. It's perfect for people who love janky messes.
Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) is often remembered for its faults, of which there are many. But if we only preserved the most perfect works of art ever made then we'd have no art history to look back on to begin with. This game was why a lot of people bought an Xbox 360 or PS3 back in the day, despite its negative reception, and while we collectively struggled with the game quite a lot back then, it's personally a game we have no negative emotions towards when reflecting on those memories. Who cares if we got flung out of bounds a bunch, it made us laugh then and it still does now. ------------------------------------------ This was a game with massive ambitions that was struck with blow after blow in development and yet the team that remained at Sonic Team Japan released a game packed with memorable moments and charm. It doesn't matter if the game is broken in every way possible, it has a unique identity that has led to countless hours of entertainment for the past 19 years and that alone makes it a key pillar of video game history. -------------------------------------------- As it stands, Sonic 2006 is unavailable for purchase on any store. It was removed from the PSN Store and Xbox Live Marketplace in 2010 and while it did return to the latter in 2022 it once again left us when the Xbox 360's marketplace was shut down last year. The game is not backwards compatible on modern Xbox systems nor featured as part of Microsoft's Xbox Live cloud gaming services, making second hand physical copies the only way to legally acquire and play the game. ------------------------------------------------- Having a game stuck on deteriorating discs for consoles no longer manufactured means it's on its way to become lost media as far as official means are concerned. This should not happen for a legendary game, even if it's legendary because of how bad people found it. Sonic 2006 deserves preservation just as much as its polished more "perfected" cousins across the history of gaming.

I once tried playing this game on Xbox 360. I have wished that it would have been released on PC like some of the other console/handheld exclusive Sonic games.

This was the ultimate destination for Sonic from how it grew from the Sega Genesis and expanded its ideas with lore and characters and 3D gameplay, and this was the turning point. The game shipped in a rushed state, build-date the same month as the game came out and only a few hours of compile time between the review build and retail build of the game. And despite all that, it's a game that's so committed to its scope that it is a complete package, and only a few things were left on the cutting room floor. Using patches on Xbox 360 or PS3 the worst glitches can be alleviated and actually make Sonic's and Silver's gameplay decent. The level design is also fine, and conceptually the game has these "moments" that make you picture what Sonic Team was dreaming about. This is actually like the Sam Raimi Movie Spider-Man compared to the Animated Series cartoon, but it's Sonic, and this game. They clearly thought about all these movies that took old-school properties and made them look "realistic", and with Sonic it brings out a more visceral look and a more dramatic storyline that has a more emotive edge to it than previous games like Sonic Adventure 2. The music is fantastic and a lot of levels have a cinematic appeal to them like Kingdom Valley which ends with a fast-running segment through water falls that move in reverse due to a time-phenomenon that exists near an ancient laboratory of Soleanna Castle. That's part of the story concept too, to have this time-travel plot about the wish to move backwards in time to be able to "save those you love", and another feature that gives the product a poetic edge. What you're left with is a broken game that is so earnest in what it wanted to do, that you can't help but feel a little sorry for it, and it's a shame that the fiasco of its original release made Sega shy of ever letting people play an updated version of it. Fans have already patched the console ports, and Sega once promised a PC release that never came to be.

Please have Ian "ChaosX" Moris and his programming team complete and release Sonic Project-06 officially to the public. While Sonic 06 maybe a failure of a game, and it must be preserved as a reminder (not only to Sega and Sonic Team, but any game developer) of what not to do, having this game be "finished" and woking properly will show how just how this game could have been amazing if it wasn't rushed or didn't have half of its development team cut off to work on another Sonic game for the Nintendo Wii.

Please note that this game NEVER got released to PC OFFICIALLY.. Only emulators can do that. Putting this game here is like giving fake hopes to people. SEGA will either do a port of a remake sometime in the future, but please stop adding games that never got out on PC...

This was sadly the first game I had for my PS3 back in the day. The feeling of disappointment I felt after plugging in my new console and trying this game was profound. I would love a chance to experience the jank all over again!
My neighbor friends and I played the heck out of this game in split screen sessions. "You can die now" was the phrase would tell each other when the other successfully made it to the next checkpoint.

Space Station Silicon Valley
Space Station Silicon ValleyA space station that was built more than 1000 years before by Earth, shortly after its launch, vanished. The station has since then mysteriously reappeared and it's bound on a collision course with Earth. Unless Dan and Evo can stop it, all will surely perish. The idea behind the game is fairly simplistic: players take on the role of Evo, a robotic microchip that possesses the unique ability to take over the bodies of dead (robotic) animals. Evo makes his way through a variety of levels and worlds filled with different objectives and, of course, different animals.

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Brave Fencer Musashi
Brave Fencer Musashi150 years ago, the legendary warrior known as the Brave Fencer Musashi saved the kingdom of Allucaneet from the evil Wizard of Darkness. Now, his spirit is reincarnated in a young, rather short-tempered boy. Fillet, the princess of Allucaneet, summons the reluctant hero to the palace and gives him the powerful sword Fusion, which he needs to defeat the evil Thirstquencher Empire. It soon turns out that the Empire is after another legendary sword, Lumina, so Musashi's first task is to get it before the bad guys do!.. Brave Fencer Musashi is an action game with strong RPG elements. Controlling Musashi, the player explores the pre-rendered backgrounds from third person view (similarly to Final Fantasy VII), visiting towns, talking to NPCs, etc. There is a day/night cycle in the game, which is manifested in the schedules of NPCs and/or monsters, as well as Musashi's fatigue level, which increases if he doesn't sleep enough. Musashi uses the two swords, Fusion and Lumina, to fight his enemies. The two swords have different properties: while Fusion behaves more or less like a traditional melee weapon, Lumina needs to be imbued with various elemental items in order to unleash powerful attacks.
