This is one of those mixed reception Sonic games. Either you find enough enjoyment to keep on playing the game or you quickly dropped it. Sonic Forces has a weird, questionable style to reveal more of the story. You do occasionally get cutscenes as expected. Then you get these lackluster in game texts with character's pictures talking on the map screen. The stages are notably much shorter than expected. If you are an achievement/trophy hunter you actually going to enjoy the hunt. I felt the best aspect is your avatar character. You really get a lot of options how to customize em. The bosses are just alright at best. Of course the music as a whole truly amazing stuff. There's also a free Shadow dlc giving you a few levels as Shadow. It's a shame this was among that particular anniversary Sonic games. We all can agree it doesn't compare to Sonic Mania. At the same time, Sonic Forces is more of an overlooked gem than anything else.
