Story:"Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber is a tactical RPG for the Nintendo 64. Featuring a gripping storyline with multiple possible endings, and a genre-defining character class system, this strategic epic has rightly retained its place in the hearts of tactical RPG fans for over a decade. The game tells the story of Magnus Gallant, a recently graduated officer of the Palatinean Army who is assigned to the troubled southern region of his native land. There he witnesses the plight of the lower classes – the victims of a tyrannical ruling elite whose only thought is for the preservation of their own lofty status. With civil war brewing, Magnus is faced with a terrible choice: to betray his own noble origins in the name of liberty, or turn a blind eye to the evils of his rotten society."Show more

I have played this game for *thousands* of hours. It still holds up to games released today and should be archived for eternity. Players new and old can dive into this fantastic, timeless, RPG. One day I hope to see a continuation/remaster, but I'll take eternal archiving :].
This game has an incredible story and gameplay like no other game I have ever played outside of the series. It is like playing Risk blended perfectly with an RTS.
This one was one of my favorite games on the Nintendo 64, I know is a long shot but a port or even better a collection of the ogre battle series would be a dream come true, the games have great strategy and characters and engaging story many customizations options for your armies and multiple endings so replay value is also there if someone liked final fantasy tactics there is a lot of chances they are going to like this game too. I still remember my playthroughs and the choisces I made, it would be grea to have it on GOG and relieve those memories again!

This game, while difficult to grasp at first, had a profound effect on me and my perception of the RPG/Sim genre. It really comes at you with a unique perspective and rich story along with introducing you to uncommon game mechanics. One of the most replayable games I've ever owned with each playthrough coming in at about 35-45 hours. Sadly the IP seems to be stagnant. It really needs an avenue of official availability if it won't be getting a remaster anytime soon.

I would call it the greatest game that ever came out for the N64. I would also say that it is the greatest console-based strategy game I have ever played. The art style and gameplay are very unique and I don't think any other game has properly replicated or even approached a similar style.

This game was my true first experience with gaming, with role playing, with deeper story telling. The political intrigue, the army customization, the classes, the multiple endings, all opened a brand new world for me.

I used to rent this from my local Blockbuster as a kid and I'd hide it for weeks so I could play it for as long as I could. This game deserves every vote and ounce of love it can acquire.
One of my all time favorite memories as a kid is going to visit my grandparents and uncle for Christmas and playing this on my uncles N64 after he beat us in Mario Kart If there was ever a game that everyone should play at least once it's this game. It has everything you could ask for Beautiful backdrops and animations that still look good to this day Combat that takes a while to master but is so much fun when you get the hang of it The amount of player choice in just how many different classes and combations in the game A gripping story that can resonate with players and a cast of characters that, while simple, leave a strong impact on you as the game goes on I'd love to see this on GOG so more people can see and experience it for themselves and possibly get more people into the series. Games like this should be preserved and played by everyone 10/10 will be playing again soon

I remember renting this from blockbuster once upon a time and beating it. Years later, I would acquire a copy for myself and beat it again with everything has to offer. Wonderful gem of a game and it deserves to be more readily available in this day in age. Make it so, GoG! I'll buy 10 copies (within reason) and gift them out!

Breath of Fire
Breath of FireRecognized by Capcom as their first traditional role-playing video game, Breath of Fire would set the precedent for future entries in the series, and features character designs by company head of development Keiji Inafune, as well as music by members of Capcom's in-house sound team Alph Lyla. In 2001, the game was re-released for the Game Boy Advance handheld system with new save features and minor graphical enhancements, with the English version being released in Europe for the first time. Set in a fantasy world, Breath of Fire follows the journey of a boy named Ryu, one of the last surviving members of an ancient race with the ability to transform into mighty dragons, as he searches the world for his sister. During his quest, Ryu meets other warriors who share his quest, and comes into conflict with the Dark Dragon Clan, a militaristic empire who seeks to take over the world by reviving a mad goddess. The game experienced mostly positive reception upon release, and was followed by a direct sequel, Breath of Fire II, in 1994.

Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter
Breath of Fire: Dragon QuarterBreath of Fire: Dragon Quarter is a radical departure from the previous titles of the Breath of Fire series, and in some ways from standard Japanese-style role-playing games in general. The game is built like a huge dungeon crawler, with no overworld map. The combat is tactical: each character has action points (AP), which can be used to move around the screen during an enemy encounter, and perform a variety of combo attacks. There is no magic in the game, and many of the items found in dungeons are random. All the enemies are visible on screen. Depending on who first initiated a physical contact, the party or the enemies get an extra turn in battles. The game allows (and even encourages) the player to restart it from the beginning, keeping the items and the party experience. The game also features a special counter - Ryu can use his traditional dragon transformation abilities, but the counter raises with each such transformation, and when the counter reaches 100, the game is over. Raising the D-ratio allows characters to access new areas every time the game is replayed.
