Mega Man (1990) – The Blueprint for Action Platforming The original Mega Man, released in 1990 for many international players, is a true pioneer in gaming. With its tight controls, innovative stage select system, and unforgettable soundtrack, it set the standard for 2D platformers. Each Robot Master brought a unique challenge, and the weapon-copying mechanic was revolutionary at the time. This wasn’t just a test of reflexes—it was a game that rewarded experimentation, precision, and strategy. The difficulty was tough but fair, making victory all the more satisfying. The pixel art, catchy music, and responsive gameplay are iconic to this day. As the origin of one of Capcom’s most beloved franchises, the original Mega Man deserves a permanent spot on GOG. Its historical value is undeniable, and having a DRM-free version optimized for modern systems would preserve a piece of gaming history while allowing new players to experience its retro brilliance.

It is the first Mortal Kombat game to feature side-scrolling gameplay. Gameplay wise the game takes the Mortal Kombat familiar 2D fighting environment and turns it into a hybrid fighter/platformer game, where you must travel trough hazardous levels running and jumping around as well as fighting your way against both digitized and polygonal enemies. Sub-Zero's interface is the same as in every MK game, with the addition of a "use" and "turn around" buttons and additions such as an inventory, and a slight RPG twist in which you get exp. for defeating opponents, which translates into new techniques and moves to execute in the game.

The Lost Vikings
The Lost VikingsThe Lost Vikings is a puzzle-platform video game developed by Silicon & Synapse (now Blizzard Entertainment) and published by Interplay. The game features infinite opportunities of retries in case the player loses one of the Vikings. In 2015, The Lost Vikings were added as a playable hero in Heroes of the Storm, allowing players to control the three Vikings as individual units, making a unique departure from the typical heroes available. Character abilities: All three Vikings (Erik, Baleog and Olaf) have three health points which they can lose by getting hurt by enemies or by falling from great heights, and the ability to carry and use items, mainly keys, bombs, and food (which restore health points). Each of the Vikings has a unique set of abilities: Erik can run faster than the other two, can jump, and can bash through some walls (and enemies) with his helmet. Baleog can kill enemies with his sword, or from a distance with his bow (and a "life-time supply of arrows"). The bow can also be used to hit switches from a distance. Olaf can block enemies and their projectiles with his shield, and use his shield as a hang glider. Olaf's shield can also be used as a stepping stone for Erik to enable him to reach higher ground, which would not be possible without the shield.
