This is such an underdog game, if you've never played this before... Being able to shoot off parts of an enemy mech, Salvage that mech and than USE IT in your squad... Is Epic... Oh that thing causing you problems all game? Well you CAN GET IT and turn the thing that annoyed you Into annoyance for your enemies!!

I remember this game and it was great! control a small team of mechs in quite big open missions and carry forward the skills and equipment that you've salvage from the enemies choose different types of mech per mission but with a weight limit so you have to think about what the makeup of the team/mechs will be. A true classic underdog in the RTS genre
I played MechCommander Gold pre 2005, more than 20 years ago. This game is the one that introduced the entire Battletech franchise to me, and I remember I played single campaign of MCG night and day. And I return to this game recently, and totally zoned into this game. There are robust single campaign and multiplay community for this game at today, 2025 Apr 21. People can play this game using Windows 10 and 11, but because of compatibility issue, it is difficult to use MCG editor to create new missions and campaigns. Please bring back this game to Windows 10/11 with proper MCG Editor support, there are people who wants to not only play but also create new missions and campaigns for this game.

This series is really one of a kind! Miss the Mad Cats. Vote them back. So far none of the newer games can provide the similar tactical feeling of this OG. Miss it so much
This game seems like an absolute no brainer for the GOG collection! The combat is very satisfying and gritty, the battles are tense, with parts flying everywhere and trying to keep your damn mech in one piece. The new ones are so slick and fast paced, this one here was pure grit and heart - love it!
Those games also need your vote!
Battle Mages: Sign of Darkness
Battle Mages: Sign of DarknessA thousand years had passed since the great battle between the Lord of Chaos and the forces of the Order. Little by little, life returned back to normal. The story begins, when a young neophyte journeys north, to learn from an eccentric wizard, one of the most ancient and powerful Guild’s members. The apprentice doesn’t know yet, that his teacher-to-be is one of the Keepers, and that his destiny is to become a catalyst for the events, that will make Daenmor shudder… Battle Mages: Sign of Darkness is an enthralling journey to the world of original game. It offers four new campaigns, covering dramatic events that took place in Daenmor long before the Shadow of Warlock spread over the land. The player will discover the mysteries of the Order of the Keepers, confront treacherous plans of the elves, lead vengeful Orcs to the battle, oppose the creatures of Chaos, and of course the darkness will raise its flag over the green hills of Daenmor under his command.

Drakengard 3
Drakengard 3Drakengard 3 transports players to a medieval world where six goddess-like sisters known as "Intoners" have brought peace to the earth with their power to manipulate magic through song. Harmony is disrupted, however, when the eldest sister, Zero, attempts to murder her younger sisters with the help of her dragon companion, Mikhail. As the story progresses, players find themselves in a battle to unravel the mystery of Zero and learn her true intentions. A prequel to the original Drakengard, Drakengard 3 features the series’ signature brand of action, pitting players against hordes of fiends and foes in remorseless hack-and-slash ground combat, and then sending them soaring for pitched aerial battles on the back of the dragon Mikhail.

Arc the Lad III
Arc the Lad IIIThe events of this game take place several years after Elk and Arc faced their ultimate enemy in "Arc the Lad II". You control Alec, a teenager whose entire village was destroyed by an unknown evil - an event that was later called "The Great Disaster". He was saved by a mysterious Hunter. Since then, growing peacefully in a village he was brought to, which was like a new home for the survivors of the Great Disaster, Alec dreams about meeting the Hunter again, and becoming a Hunter himself. Together with his best friend Lutz he tries his luck in nearby towns, receiving small Hunter jobs, until the fate crosses the ways of the two young people with a mysterious organization called the Academy. And there their adventure really begins... The gameplay of this third installment of Arc the Lad series is very similar to that of the predecessor. You fight enemies in turn-based battles, and can move freely on the battlefield, positioning your party members the way you like. You can upgrade your weapons by forging them with special materials, and have a variety of techniques and magic spells at your disposal.

Arc the Lad II
Arc the Lad IIThis direct sequel to "Arc the Lad" continues the unfinished story of the first game, but starts from a totally different perspective. You control a bounty-hunter named Elk, who suffers from amnesia. On his quest for his own true identity he discovers the powers hidden within him, and the destiny of his entire tribe. While pursuing his archenemy, Elk meets up with Arc, the hero of the first game, and then both realize they have been looking to destroy the very same evil. The battle system of "Arc the Lad II" is similar to the one used in its predecessor: in battles you can move your characters on the battle field, and your proximity to the enemies plays an important role. You cause and take different amounts of damage depending on your position on the battle field. Unlike the first game, this one is a full-fledged adventure/RPG, without the "strategy" feel of the predecessor. You move through the game world on your own, visiting towns and exploring dungeons.
