SoulCaliburSoulCalibur is a weapon-based 3D fighting game developed by Project Soul and produced by Namco. It is the second game in the Soul series, preceded by Soul Edge (1996). Originally released in arcades in 1998, it ran on the Namco System 12 hardware. In 1999 it was ported to the Dreamcast with improved graphics and new features. The North American version was released in September 1999 as a launch title for the Dreamcast and was part of the successful launch of the new console. It became available as a downloadable title on Xbox 360's Xbox Live Marketplace in 2008.
The title brought many innovations to the fighting game genre that include a heavy emphasis on weapons and a unique eight-way movement system. Dungeon Fighter OnlineDungeon Fighter Online is a free-to-play multiplayer hack-and-slash RPG with a side-scrolling arcade style. There are currently 11 unique character classes. 3 classes have a mirrored class of the opposite gender with a 4th being added soon. Classes have Sub-classes to choose from and later has advancements of those classes to unlock upgraded skills.
Of the 11 unique classes, 6 have 4 sub-classes, 3 have 2 sub-classes, and 2 have no sub-classes but still has advancements for new skills.
Developed by the Korean company Neople in 2005 the game was released in Japan in 2006, China in 2007, Taiwan in 2009, and North America in 2010. The publisher Nexon shut the North American version down in 2013.
Neople relaunched the game globally in 2016, with Season 2, adding new content and characters to the game.

After Ogami Ittō's wife Azami gives birth to their son, Daigorō, Ogami Ittō returns to find her and all of their household brutally murdered, with only the newborn Daigorō surviving. The supposed culprits are three former retainers of an abolished clan, avenging the execution of their lord by Ogami Ittō. However, the entire matter was planned by Ura-Yagyū (Shadow Yagyu) Yagyū Retsudō, leader of the Ura-Yagyū clan, in order to seize Ogami's post as part of a masterplan to control the three key positions of power: the spy system, the official assassins and the Shogunate Decapitator. During the initial incursion, an ihai (funeral tablet) with the shōgun's crest on it was placed inside the Ogami family shrine, signifying a supposed wish for the shogun's death. When the tablet is "discovered" during the murder investigation, its presence condemns Ittō as a traitor and thus he is forced to forfeit his post.Action
