Gunman Chronicles by Rewolf Software is a commercially released product based on the GoldSource (Half-life) engine. Starting off as a mod that was scooped up by Sierra during the gaming hype around half-life, Gunman Chronicles was granted a retail release and lived a short retail lifespan. Unfortunately shortly after release, Rewolf Software was disbanded and Sierra was in the process of being consumed by Vivendi. This meant that the publishing rights were lost to time during these events although they are now rumoured to be with Valve. IIRC, to prevent Gunman Chronicles disappearing completely, some of the original design team banded together to form a new studio, reverted Gunman Chronicles back to it's mod form and released it back into the world where it has since been preserved on ModDB. If GOG however could get it re-released here, a new audience could discover what is possibly the best GoldSource campaign to ever be released at retail. A wild adventure containing Aliens, Dinosaurs, Robots, Robo-Dinosaurs, Space Cowboys and an insane AI who could rival both Shodan and GlaDOS. Customisable weapons with multiple weapon modes, driving mechanics and a flair for dramatic set-pieces all appear within it's galaxy-hopping campaign. I played the demo version through multiple times back in the day because it was fun and unique, containing content and levels that don't appear in the full game as you are hunted across a jungle planet by hungry dinosaurs and space cowboys. When I obtained the full version via a budget re-release just before the publishing rights collapsed, the campaign turned out to be even more wild, with superb set pieces, interesting story and clever level design, an enthralling ride from start to finish. Gunman Chronicles is one of my most treasured games and if it was ever re-released on any digital storefront be it GOG or Steam again, I suspect many people who take the plunge into it's campaign would absolutely feel the same.

This game started as a fan mod of Half-Life and finally was commercially distributed. Today, it is known as the "game that Valve wants you to forget". It cannot be found anywhere (except on pirate sites and second-hand-market) and should come back.
I remembered wanting to play it bad after the trailer back in 2000 but never got a chance to get it at the store back in the day had short run would really like to play it it’s look boss bro

IMO one of the must "underrated games/hidden gem" in the 2000ish era!! Back in the days I played the Demo Version i think 10 times. Then my dad bought me the Full Version of it...until now i think its one of the best games of my childhood. Like i said its highly underrated, which somehow i cannot understand cause i liked it way more than Half-Life back then. The theme, the guns, the enemies (dont wanna spoiler), the antoganist, the tritagonist...ahh so good. For me this next to Freelancer would be a dream come true!

An absolute hidden gem of a game that went from fan mod to commercial release for good reason, it's excellent. Almost totally forgotten about today and really hard to track down which is why it deserves another chance.

I remember this being such a fun sci-fi experience, and one of my favorite games as a kid! You got the mechanics of Hal-life with Dinosaurs, Humans and almost Terminator like robots sometimes all at once, and you could drive Tanks... Blew my freaking mind when I was 10 years old and have not played it in a good 20+ years now, but would love to revisit!

I do not understand why this game is forgotten. Previews looked stunning back when, the demo was great, and reviews were, ultimately, fairly muted. The game I remember is a great post-HL FPS, though. Maybe a little messy, sure, but it deserves circulation. Glad to see it has quite a bit of requests on here. Wish I held on to my physical copy. Also, it had dinosaurs. That was huge, even if it was mostly limited to the beginning and trailers.
This game is pretty much another really good half life game in spirit, and not a cutscene heavy yet scenaristically empty game like half life 2. It is a complete package, with cool weapons, cool aliens, cool environments, epic bosses... if Half life is number one, then this game can only be number two, not any other number.
It is like a total conversion Half Life mod in a sci-fi setting with dinosaurs and wild west elements thrown in. The selection of weapons is limited, but they are much more customizable than in almost any FPS. Having played through Black Mesa a short time before revisiting this one, I have to say that Gunman Chronicles felt much closer to Half Life. In spite of the many years since my first playthroughs this one still holds up. For people wanting to play it, there is a free mod version that can be installed through Half Life to work as a separate steam entry. Even so, it would definitely be cool to have available here on gog.

Operation Thunderbolt
Operation ThunderboltOperation Thunderbolt is the exciting sequel to Operation Wolf. An airliner is hijacked by terrorists en-route from Paris to Boston, who threaten to kill all hostages on board if their mates aren't released from jail. Instead of reaching its destination, the airliner makes a landing in Kalubya, Africa, and all the hostages are hidden in various locations. The authorities have asked the hero from Operation Wolf to rescue the hostages, but only this time, the hero brings his friend along for the ride. There are eight missions to complete in Operation Thunderbolt, and each one has you shooting down soldiers, choppers, and tanks. The gameplay varies every one or two missions. In some missions, you are driving a jeep or controlling a boat, while in others, you are walking while you're shooting. You have a limited supply of ammo, and a limited supply of rocket bombs, but you can always stock up by shooting down crates falling from the sky, or by killing a cat or dog that get in the line of fire. Also from crates, you can get special items like bulletproof vests, rocket bombs, and different weapons.
