Story:Ever 17: The Out of Infinity is a visual novel video game developed by KID. It is the second entry in the Infinity series; it is preceded by Never 7: The End of Infinity, and followed by Remember 11: The Age of Infinity, 12Riven: The Psi-Climinal of Integral, and Code_18. From VNDB: "Ever17 is the tale of seven individuals who come to be trapped 153 feet within the underwater marine theme park, LeMU. During an apparently normal day at the park, a massive accident happens, placing almost half of the facility underwater. The path to the surface and the communication lines are cut off. In addition, LeMU is under constant assault by severe water pressure, limiting time to find a means of escape to 119 hours. Escape is not the only concern, however; many questions arise as to the legitimacy of the accident and whether or not those trapped there were brought there for a purpose."Show more

It would be amazing to have both the original script and remake available, even with the flawed localization of Hirameki International. This is one of the best visual novels out there. Please do it, GOG.
Ever17: the out of infinity is an incredible mystery story that places you in a submerged, underwater theme park with a group of people, and slowly unravels it's most intriguing aspects slowly between each of the different routes, culminating in one final "true" route that brings the whole things together. While the original Hirameki translation is a little rough, it's still well-worth enjoying the game. There is a newer release set to come out in March-April 2025, so hopefully when released on other platforms, it also sees it's release on GOG.com, so that more people can experience what is easily one of my all-favourite stories of all-time. There's a reason why it has such a following and great buzz on vndb.org and in other science fictions circles in and outside of Japan. Don't miss out on it if you want to enjoy a tale uniquely tailored to the medium it was created in. It sure would be nice to have an easy way to recommend and share the original version and script of this game. It could use a new English translation by a dedicated crew, but even as is, it's phenomenal. If you do play the Hirameki version, do make sure to play it with some of the fan patches which tune it up a bit.
This is the game that made Kotaro Uchikoshi famous, and would give us more classics such as the Zero Escape and AI: The Somnium Files series. Unfortunately the Ever17 "remastered edition" that was released in 2025 has completely butchered his story. We need the original back so that everybody can finally experience this masterpiece!
This visual novel has, probably, one of the best narratives in the medium. It takes a premise that sounds mundane (it's about a group of seven people trapped in a underwater theme park) and makes it interesting by adding a really strong cast of character that, in the surface, may seem like they are no more than anime tropes (the tsundere, the energetic girl, etc), but the way they interact and develop makes them really interesting and memorable. To top it all off, this game has, probably, one of the most awe-inspiring, unexpected, and daring endings of any work in the world of interactive fiction. The sad part about this is the inaccessibility of this work: the original PC version of this game in English was released in 2005 so the program is really old and unstable and the translated script is not the best, so you have to download a fan-made patch to have a better experience. Recently, a new version was released on Steam, but it has the huge problem of being based on the Xbox 360 version/remake, which introduces changes to the original script of dubious quality (also, it seems that there are problems with the translated English script, again). It would be really nice to have an accessible way to play the original game, with the original script, on modern OSs.

Dark Earth
Dark EarthDark Earth is a post-apocalyptic action-adventure game for the PC. Dark Earth takes place several centuries in the future, when a meteor collision with Earth tossed up great clouds of dust that blocked out the sun. Earth's remaining survivors began to seek refuge beneath small openings in the clouds, the few places light could be found. Those that remained in the 'dark earth' were hunted by strange creatures, infected with the darkness. To shelter themselves from the dangerous 'dark earth', the people began to form cities beneath the light called 'Stallites'. At the time of the game, most of the citizens of the stallite have forgotten their history and now worship the light as a god. The stalites are run by 'Sun Priests', who maintain order and prevent the creatures of darkness from harming the city. The game follows the story of Arkhan, a "guardian of fire", protector of the stallite 'Sparta' and the Sun Priests. After an attack on the sun priests, Arkhan has a poison thrown into his face that begins to infect him with the dark sickness. He begins to mutate into a creature of the dark and has to find a cure before his transformation is complete. Along the way, he is treated as an enemy by most of his former friends while he struggles to uncover the conspiracy behind the attack.
