People in the 90's had this on CD. It was a great game. I will never forget the people whom introduced this to me. I had some good memories on this.. This is was what made me, love Half-life when it was introduced to me. I will never forget the many nights playing this.
**Why *Counter-Strike: Source* Should Be on GOG — And Why It’s the Best in the Series** *Counter-Strike: Source* (2004) is often overshadowed by *CS 1.6*'s legacy and *CS:GO*'s popularity, but real fans know: *Source* is the perfect middle ground. It modernized the classic gameplay with Valve's then-new **Source Engine**, giving us stunning (for the time) visuals, smoother physics, and tight gunplay — all while staying true to what made *Counter-Strike* legendary in the first place. ### Why It’s the Best CS Game in the Series - **Perfect Balance of Old and New**: *Source* keeps the hardcore, tactical feel of 1.6 but with improved graphics and physics that brought CS into a new era without selling out its roots. - **Smooth, Clean Aesthetic**: No flashy skins, no economy system. Just raw, clean FPS action. The visual upgrade from 1.6 was huge, but it never distracted from gameplay. - **Classic Mods & Community Servers**: *CS:S* had one of the most vibrant modding communities — Zombie Mod, Gun Game, Surf maps, and endless custom servers. This is the *Counter-Strike* playground that shaped online shooters. - **Mechanical Precision**: Bullet spray patterns, movement, and hitboxes felt just right. It hit that sweet spot between old-school and modern. ### Why It Needs to Be on GOG - **DRM-Free Preservation**: Like many classic PC shooters, *CS:S* deserves to be archived and accessible forever — no reliance on third-party launchers or unstable servers. - **Revival of Modding and LAN**: GOG’s focus on offline access, LAN support, and preservation would give *Source* a second life for fans of custom servers, private matches, and modding culture. - **Classic Multiplayer History**: Alongside games like *Quake*, *Unreal Tournament*, and *DOOM*, *CS:S* defined competitive PC gaming in the 2000s. It’s more than a game — it’s a historical artifact. *Counter-Strike: Source* was the turning point that proved CS could evolve without losing its soul. GOG is the right home

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

DoDonPachi
DoDonPachiCompared to DonPachi, DoDonPachi is generally known for introducing new gameplay elements while improving or changing existing ones. The overall background of the game, unlike following sequels, remains more or less centered around a supposed invasion by a mysterious race of mechanized aliens, which the player is called to face throughout its run. However, more sinister and shocking secrets lie beneath the surface, accessible only to those brave and skilled enough to clear the entire game.

Darius Gaiden
Darius GaidenDarius Gaiden is a two-dimensional shoot'em up. The player controls a space ship named the Silver Hawk and must guide it through scrolling stages, destroying enemies and avoiding obstacles along the way. The ship is armed with forward-firing missiles, aerial bombs and a protective force-field, all of which can be upgraded by various power-ups that are dropped by specially-colored enemies when they are destroyed by the player. New to the Silver Hawk's arsenal in Darius Gaiden is the 'black hole bomb.' When fired, the black hole bomb will create a large vortex in the center of the screen, which sucks in enemies and projectiles on the screen for a short moment, until it explodes into a powerful ball of lightning that inflicts massive damage onto every enemy on the screen. Another feature introduced Darius Gaiden is the ability to capture minibosses, who appear in every stage. Each miniboss has a small, circular ball placed on them that, after receiving enough damage, will detach and float away, causing the miniboss to turn idle. If the player collects the ball, the miniboss will follow and aid the player. After a brief period of time, or the player loses a life, the miniboss will explode. A few months following release, update to the arcade version was later released entitled "Darius Gaiden Extra Edition". This version of arcade game contains rearranged levels, as well as automatically-enabled auto fire, two extra weapon power levels (bigger wave shot and a bigger red wave shot as well) and an all-stage mode which can be accessed by starting the game in 2P side.

Parodius
ParodiusParodius, also known as Parodius: The Octopus Saves the Earth, is the first title in the Parodius series. The name itself is a portmanteau of "Gradius" and "Parody" and, eponymously, the game is a parody of the Gradius series of space-based horizontally scrolling shooters. The gameplay is very similar to the Gradius games, with other aspects from games such as TwinBee. However, the characters are replaced with silly characters taken from either these or other Konami games, as well as Japanese culture. The player can play as either Tako (father of Takosuke), an octopus, the Penguin (father of Pentarou) from Antarctic Adventure and the exclusive MSX game Penguin Adventure, Goemon from the Ganbare Goemon series, the Popolon knight from the MSX game Knightmare or the Vic Viper spaceship from Gradius. The game is composed of six stages consisting of various obstacles and enemies such as penguins and bees, as well as more traditional Gradius enemies such as Moai. As with Gradius, the game utilizes a similar selection-bar based power-up system.
