Short story: Back when I was a pup, I extorted my mum to buy me that Sonic music CD I saw at the store. There was a picture of Sonic and Tails on it, so it had to be cool, right? Right?! It turned out to be a real disappointment. But hold the phone...quite soon I figured that there was a multimedia part on it. So I popped it in into the PC. It contained a boring af music video. Hell no! And the demo of a video game. Hell yes! Even though it actually wasn't a Sonic game, I decided to give it a try. And I got caught off guard. It was a really cool beat 'em up arcade game, wrapped in awesome comic style. Comics and martial arts, what more could a kiddo ask for? A perfect combination! Unfortunately there was only one level. But I played it a thousand times. For some reason it had an extremely high replayability value. I tried to make "perfect runs" (loosing zero health), speed runs and many other self-created challenges. Eventually it started to get old and I wanted more. Mummy wasn't willing to buy her video-game-spoiled son yet another stupid game. Maybe a childhood dream might come true now? Please GOG, let me finish my quest that started 30 years ago and stagnates ever since. True story!
Tough as nails and unforgiving even though quite short. This game is quite a fun nostalgic trip. It's an action comic book coming to life! It's still rather contemporary, it's as "90ies" as a game gets. Those were tough years to grow up where I live and Comix Zone made it all a bit happier.

For an late Genesis release, Comix Zone stands out. It's a little shorter than expected that's truly delivers. The presentation speaks for itself. The audio as a whole amazing work. Yes this is a difficult beat em up game. Health items are secretive to constantly check a weird method by ripping pieces of pages. Some are hidden in objects you'll lose some health among breaking. The game is funny about giving you an continue. If you get one instead of the Game Over that also acts as the game's Bad Ending. You just luck out on being forced to play it all over again. The stages with a few paths does keep things a bit interesting. The same Sega division made Kid Chameleon to name a few. Comix Zone gets in several compilation games. I also couldn't help Mortus sorta looks a little like Dr. Robotnik. I love the concept is an creator of a comic book gets trapped inside his own work. This game is becoming more known overtime. It's no surprise a lot of people missed out on the game. Comix Zone could be either fun or a truly intense time for those playing the game.
i loved playing this game on my buddy sega back then and after it was plausible to play it on steam for sega bundle it was definitely was a blast to play. just wished it wasn't as hardcore like it is. i never really beaten the game but only made it past only a few chapters i think? but it was definitely a unique game and loved the storyline that they had trying to fight your way out of a comic sketch that the evil bad guy made for the main dude was very interesting.
