I played the remake on the Wii. And while the game isn't necessarily an amazing standout on it's own. It deserves much recognition for being a Rogue-/lite/ years before the term was even coined. It's a procedurally generated dungeon crawler where your goal is getting to the bottom, picking up whatever equipment you can find along the way and using it to fight enemies. But it has mechanisms for both transferring power directly to your next run, and to power up permanently through an achievment system. Much like you'd expect from a modern title like Rogue Legacy or Hades, only a decade early. For that reason alone it is worth preserving and looking at.

Nights: Journey of Dreams
Nights: Journey of DreamsThis time around, however, Nights takes a bit of a different turn. Keeping in line with the "world of dreams" theme – it wouldn't be Nights without it – players will take control of Will and Helen, two young children each entering into Nightopia (the world of dreams) with their own back-story, emotional baggage, and inner demons that come to life though the forming of nightmares. It's a pretty simple concept overall, and with each child's five main levels you'll get a different piece of the story leading up to the same grand finale. Once they arrive in the land of dreams, each character meets up with a Nights almost instantaneously, and from there learns to meld with the mysterious creature and fly through the world of Nightopia. Along the way you'll learn of the quest to find the hidden Ideya (basically essences of the human spirit), and eventually attempt to defeat a powerful god-like creature named Wizeman and his right-hand man Reala.

Xenosaga I & II
Xenosaga I & IIXenosaga I & II is a combined remake and retelling of Xenosaga Episode 1 and 2 redesigned for the Nintendo DS. The story changes were handled by the creator of the series. The game changes large parts of the storyline in Episode 1 while following the elements established in the original game. This includes adding new characters and changing how some scenarios play out. Changes in Episode 2 were much larger as the main character perspective of the game was switched from Jr. to Shion to match up with Episode 1 and 3. Some characters are removed from the story or have their fates changed or revealed. Some dungeons are removed, edited, or replaced. It also answers some questions that the original did not as you follow a different path through the same overall story. It also changes the combat mechanics of Episode 2 to match Episode 1.
