I had just finished playing all the Warcraft 3 campaigns and was looking for more Strategy goodness. I then found this high-fantasy game that had everything I was looking for. The story was great but as a child I found it a very difficult game. I would love to take another shot at beating it!

The period after Warcraft III when many publishers tried to replicate the RTS + RPG formula had some real gems. Unfortunately, this was right before the death of PC gaming in retail, and the long period of "store wars" in early digital distribution. Armies of Exigo is one of the casualties of the time, forgotten by everyone. It's time to bring it back, EA.
My memories of this game arent particularly detailed, the main and biggest one is that after a certian point the game just got too difficult, until years later i tried the game again, got my ass handed to me and just decided to cheat my way through the game wholesale haha

I remember finding this game in my local library (a place i use to go to a lot to rent comics and games when i was in my teens) I was really surprised how good and cool this game was and the story was quit something else. In my 20ties i bought the game on amazon from a random person and i still own my copy today with many other old school games bought the same way (I'm 35 now) Would be great to get this game on GoG as it seems to be forgotten by time and many ppl don't know it even exist.

A shame that game was compared to an inferior version of Warcraft 3 despite its mechanisms that made it a big surprise when I player it my first time. This game proves that even less-known studios can make good strategy games!

A one HELL of a good game. Yeah it has that Warcraft/StarCraft feel but that's just a good platform to make a really good game. And that world map just perfect loved to have seen more.

Armies of Exigo is criminally underrated . I absolutly love this Game. Its an RTS just like Warcraft or Starcraft. Its not as good as Warcraft 3 but its pretty close. For me its a 5/5 Star Game. I still have this Game on CD as i keep all my Games i bought . But as widely known the Backwards Compatibility on Windows 11 is crap , you then need to Dowload a no CD file which im verry reluctantly do . But even with that done you still have some Compatibility Proplems. I need 3 Games to be happy in Life: Armies of Exigo / Black and White 2 / Battle for Middleearth 1 and 2

This game is a pure gem. Sadly WarCraft 3 overshadowed it, but this game deserved it's beautiful story's continuetion. The scale of battles are very intense, fought in the air, on the ground and undergroundbat the same time with the classic RTS style. Three totally different factions, map-wide effect spells, beautiful graphics. It's cinematics were second of it's time, bested only by WarCraft 3 itself.
I once had the discs for this game, sadly lost disc 2. It would be amazing to replay this game, before I was a kid who bought it cause it looked cool and I'd love to actually play the game and not just stay in skirmish games. I also love the art style and factions you get to play.
Those games also need your vote!
Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.

Sakura Taisen 2: Kimi, Shinitamou Koto Nakare
Sakura Taisen 2: Kimi, Shinitamou Koto NakareThe sequel to the original Sega Saturn system seller (in Japan at least) becomes one of the Saturn's last great hurrahs. Head back to early 1900's Tokyo as Oogami Ichirou, a naval commander who's now become the last line of defense against the demons that stalk the capital. The all-female cast from the original returns in full, joined by two additional members. The grid-based strategy battles from the original are improved with better spell attacks and cleaner graphics, while the "LIPS" interactive conversation sequences feature better production values, color depth and a few additional twists on interactivity.

The Settlers
The SettlersThe goal of this game is to build a prosperous and well organized city and to gain control of enemy cities. This might initially seem simple to do, but in reality it is much more complex. If you consider all the game's problems inversely, that is from the end of the game first, you will understand better. In order to conquer the enemy castles, you will need many knights. To keep their morale up, you will need gold, and for the weapons you will need iron and coal. These raw materials are found in mines. The mines must be provided with food and the raw materials must be melted in a foundry. The food supply is ensured by the fishermen and the farmers, but they need tools, as do all other workers. These tools are made by smiths. To build huts, houses, castles you will need construction materials and workers...

Bahamut Lagoon
Bahamut LagoonBahamut Lagoon combines RPG mechanics with squad-based combat. Characters have HP, MP (SP for fighter characters), EXP, equipment, stats and class-specific, SP-draining special elemental abilities very much like traditional console RPGs. The player can explore his surroundings, talk to people and visit shops when not in battle, though to a limited degree as there is no world map and no way to leave the current area. The game's core is its turn-based battles fought on a 2d grid. Characters are assembled into parties of four and the player allowed a maximum of six parties, which are usually well outnumbered. The two opposing sides act in alternating turns so that each party can move once and/or attack once a turn. Attacks are divided into distant and close-up combat. In the former, a party uses a special ability (e.g. casting fireballs, throwing lightning, healing allies) of one of its members at a distance. The range and possible area of effect damage vary per ability. If the attacking party has two or more characters with the same ability, they join in the action to multiply its effectiveness. Distant combat results in less money and generally less damage, but the target cannot retaliate. Distant attacks can also affect the field; fire and ice ignite or extinguish forests and melt or freeze ice, etc. Close-up, each unit in two adjacent opposing parties can act once. Very much like Final Fantasy SNES combat, they can attack an enemy, use an item or a special ability (though these can't be combined and most only affect one target instead of all) or defend. Dragons are the player's ace in the hole. They have their own stats and gain experience like normal characters do. In battle, each party has a dragon attached to it and draws a large portion of its strength from that of its dragon: if a party's dragon is slain, the party will lose the ability to use special attacks and class-specific abilities for the remainder of the map. The beast acts as a very powerful autonomous unit that moves after its party does and it cannot be controlled beyond very simple commands, e.g. "Come!" Out of battle, dragons will eat anything and raising them by feeding them items is an important part of the game. Feeding can improve their stats as well as affect their behavior on the field, and the dragons develop into new forms as they grow. The player can change the characters in each of the parties, their formation as well as what dragon represents them at will.
