This game is fun & I want to play it again. I had the privilege of playing over a modem with a friend way back in High School. I was so good I beat him twice in an Alpha while he was in a Los Angeles SSN. The 688 has 3D graphics of the underwater world. If you are observant & clever enough, the navigational map serves just as good an understanding of the underwater world as the 3D graphics. I felt like Captain Tupoluv at times like when he tossed maps around like useless trash as he made the navigational calculations in his head. But I wasn't that privileged. I needed to play against someone who was just as skilled as me, but that wasn't going to happen. But I do remember my friend did damage my sub a few times with his MK48 torpedoes. How good was I? I was so good at sonar I didn't need to use the periscope anymore. But of course I'm over estimating my skill level. I'm pretty sure there are 688AS videogame subdrivers just as good or better than me. BTW, the last mission is bogus. I launched my Tomahawk missiles at a land target and silently proceeded northwest. If you evade the Russian Navy, the game suddenly ends when you travel too much to the northwest on the map. That happened to me twice. And it was a let down...
