Hi there, this is my first time using the GOG forums, so forgive me if I'm doing anything wrong.

I played NWN2 many times when i was younger, and decided to buy it again here when I saw it was on sale. I've been playing through it, and have noticed many glitches happening. A good deal of cut-scenes and plot points simply aren't happening- most notably, any that relate to my companions. The wolf in Neverwinter never appeared to talk to Elanee, the exposition cut-scene for the Construct never happened, and despite seeing all the cut-scenes talking about Qara being attacked, nothing has attacked us so far, and it should have happened long ago. Upon arriving at Crossroad keep, nothing actually happened to tell me that it was mine. There was no cut-scene showing me the destruction of Fort Locke either. There are also many other glitches, such as I run across a map, only for my character to suddenly warp back to the beginning again. There have been one or two errors in text - bevil was talking to me, and some of his words would be jumbled with accented letters.
Why is this happening? I remember years back that you had to tell the game to manually update, but as the GOG version doesn't open up a desktop menu, there is nowhere for me to tell the game to update. I had hoped that the GOG version would come fully patched, but I'm beginning to suspect it isn't, and I do not have the know-how to fix this, despite spending entirely too long perusing google.

I would greatly appreciate any advice you can offer on this matter.
Thanks! :)

GOG's is fully patched.

Be sure to have it installed outside of a protected directory (program files, my documents, windows).

Are the cut-scenes you're talking about movies or in-game cut-scenes? (I've still never played the OC in NWN2 :D)

If they're movies, then you may be missing a codec (coder/decoder file to help your computer interpret the file data into an image). If that's the case (in fact, in any case), contact support and they'll be able to help you out.

Ah fair enough.

Err.... I have no idea where its installed 0.o lets take a look... It seems to be installed in Local Disk---GOG Games and also Local disk---My documents. No idea why its in both... and I always thought programme files was the best place to have it installed? Where should I put it instead?

Hmm, im not sure what the difference is, but I think for the most part they are ones that I have a part in, ie, the main character has voice options in.

Do i contact NWN support, or GOG support?
Thanks for the help :)

C:\GOG Games\ should be fine
I bet your saves are being stored in Local Disk, which is probably okay.

Program Files is the best place to put something that is built for your OS. But starting with Windows Vista, Microsoft starting protecting certain folders so that unwanted changes wouldn't happen to your computer. But if you are using a built-for-Windows XP game, then the developers had no way to get the program to be recognized correctly. So Windows will keep it from accessing certain files, saving certain files and whatnot (this is my description, anyway. I'm sure an OS guru could explain it better).

NWN2 is pretty new, so it may have Vista+ support built into it, but I'm just not sure. But your install is in a good place, so you should be fine in that way.

It's very likely that support will tell you to redownload the game and reinstall it. Sometimes freaky weird things happen from a missing bit that the checksum error checker just misses.

Oh, also, do you have Direct X 9 installed. This is an old enough game that it probably needs it. That'd be my next place to look.

Be sure you follow this guide before contacting GOG support. It fixes most issues.

One problem is, some of the patches for the expansions actually broke down some stuff from the main game. Then there were new patches and patches on patches and some things sometimes fall through.

If you realise something didn't trigger the way it was supposed to, it's best to go back to an old save. This happens sometimes when something is happening and prevents something other from happening. Usually everything works on a second attempt.

It's also best to run the game as administrator, it might be something prevents the game from marking up stuff as happened so when the thing is looked up it doesn't trigger some other thing. Super technical stuff, I wouldn't understand, mark the game to run as administrator.
