"Technically I didn't find out much but its given me some suspicions. They were very tight lipped about the crops failing, at first I thought the reason they weren't telling me anything was just a matter of pride but then I made a small joke about preferring to help because otherwise the landlord might hire me to rough them up.
Now this was an obvious joke and yet they were pretty damned scared. I have a feeling that either this town is being extorted by raiders or perhaps that the landlord is not playing fair with them. I think the chances of this being a natural crop failure is pretty damn low & we should be careful about who we trust"
As you stand outside the Market you hear the rumble of handcart approaching. As it gets louder a man come into view, passing by the Stable. His cart is piled with unthreshed rice. It looks as if he is walking towards the Silo.
You all remember that you are exceptionally hungry.
I shall try to ignore the hunger for the moment and trail slowly behind thecart to the silo so I can have a sticky beak and see if there's anything weird going on, heading back to the common room for breakfast if everything seems in order
Ariana - You watch as the farmer wheels his cart around the far side of the Silo; you lose sight of him for a second, but realise he is unlatching a back door. He props it open with an iron ball, rolled out from inside, using his foot to knock it into an indentation in the ground. The cart is parked close to the threshold so its contents can be unloaded, a job which the farmer performs with little effort.
He disappears inside and does not reappear while you watching, though you hear the faint sound of what you think is fabric being shaken out. His actions do not immediately seem suspicious, so you walk back to the other party members waiting outside the Market.
Returning to the Common Room would probably be the best way to score a free meal, but after the last conversation you had, and considering Hormwharr's flagrant impoliteness, with careful handling these simple folk could probably be convinced you're not all that bad.
Walking around the Market you enter the Common Room again, noticing that all of the remaining sleepers have risen and are eating together. A few look up and whisper to those next to them, which produces more attention.
You approach the fire and the bubbling broth pot, next to which sits a woman stirring its contents with a long stick. She looks at you with a blank stare, waiting to see what you want.
