GOG.com really needs to talk to Microids and get the Syberia series on here. I know, I know, there's a wish list. But I'm putting together a critical argument for this one, and I'd appreciate it if you all heard me out.:
Why Syberia needs to be on GOG:
- they're good (VERY GOOD)
- they're old
- they're games.
- syberia 3 has been announced - would be good for advertisement (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/syberia-3-definitely-on-the-way-for-pc--but-ps3-version-could-be-an-issue)
- already available for purchase online through metaboli.com, and features are: "No need to be online to play", "Re-download your game if you need to", "Possible to burn your game onto a CD/DVD" (so obviously they're not worried about DRM)
- i said so.
that is all. discuss.

Which one is better, 1 or 2?

The first is best in my opinion, but they are both excellent, and I would love to see them here.

So why don't you contact Microids and tell them that in your opinion they should appear on GOG.
Some time ago I contacted Interplay and Atari about what the problems (if there even are any) are concerning Planescape:Torment from appearing on GOG.
Now I didn't receive an answer, but at least I tried something.
Here's the contact page of microids.
I think the commercial department, or the communications department is the one to send your message to.
*insert swear word*
i didn't see this thread. Can a moderator annihilate my thread about syberia 3?

As GOG has said, though..that's not really advisable..some companies might be encouraged that way, but some would be really turned off by it. Best to let the team handle it me thinks.

I would really rather see GOG focus on older games that are hard to purchase or hard to run on XP/Vista, and Syberia 1 + 2 are not really in that category. You could buy both games for pretty cheap on amazon right now and run them just fine.
That said, more games on the service is always a good thing.
I know this sounds weird but, Syberia 1+2 has been the only game which actually made me CRY at the end it was that moving. This is an excellent adventure game series, one which I said should be on here in back in march. I support your argument as Microids hold many MANY excellent games, including the -seminal- Still Life which to date has to be one of the best adventure games I've played.

I wasn't suggesting that you should go all out guns blazing to force them to join GOG.
That would be inadvisable.
I was more thinking along the lines of gentle pressure.
You know start out with a fan mail-ish kind of mail (you guys rock!)
And end with the question if they have considered GOG, because you want all your friends to play their games as you did.
That's subtle and I can't see GOG thinking that this method is inadvisable, please correct me if I'm wrong, though.
Edit: Forget what I said, I just read the post below me. I wasn't aware that these games are still available, so the incentive for Microids to team up with GOG isn't as straightforward as I thought it was.

You can also get Syberia 1 and 2 via Big Fish games, and seeing as they can charge 19.99 for it there, the publishers may not like the pricing suggested by GOG.

If you're a member of BigFish, which most people are, you only pay around $7 per game :)

That depends on your level of membership =).
Resurrecting my old thread here, because I'm hoping for Syberia this week! I started this thread before the announcement of Microids joining GOG, so needless to say I was very excited when they did.
What are people's guesses for new games this week? Perhaps Haegemonia or Obscure, but maybe they'll throw out a surprise by Thursday/Friday?

DRM? If so, what sort?
Bigfish DRM I expect. Ie, activate it by whatever online activation they do, then play offline as much as you want there after. All you need do is run the Bigfish client to download, install and activate. You won't need it to play unless you want to launch it that way.
