Does anyone know of a game that's similar to Castle of the Winds?

I know there's lots of rogue games but none I've tried feels like CotW.
If you want to try it the creator released it for free.

Diablo 1. It's nearly the same but prettier.

There's a HUGE difference between realtime and turnbased. ;)

But both are cripled rogue-likes. :)

I can't think of any similar games to this one off the top of my head, but thanks so much for posting the link. I remember wasting tons of time playing this when I was younger.

CotW is not cripled! It's refined. :P

Me too. I still play it from time to time. Now if I could find new sprites for my character that would be heaven...

Brilliant games :) I'm afraid I can't think of another like it though - Ultima games may be to your liking but none of those are in a similar style.

Sadly I never got hooked by Ultima so the search go on.

Exiles looks promising. I'll have to try them. :)
Yeah somehow CotW felt different than other Roguelikes. I can't put my finger on what it is but others that have played it tend to feel the same. At least the ones I've spoken to.

Nope, ive been looking. THere are non quiet like COTW. Most feel older and bloated even if they are newer then COTW. COTW was the only Rouglike ive found using a windows based gameplay and graphics, making it the single best rougelike out there,.
Someone meantioned Exile before, and while its a great game... there are better of the same out there by the people who made it, spiderweb, If you liked exile try out the Geneforge and Anveren series

Demos of both can be aquired legally from spiderwebs site, and, through legally purchasing or other more dubious means the full version may be unlocked from these demos

For the Wii, there is final fantasy fables: Chocobo dungeon, Baroque, Shiren the wanderer.
for the DS, there is Izuni: the unemployed ninja 1,2 , shiren the wanderer ds.
