I don't know why people spend so much on new iPods, laptops, etc. when they could just go refurbed like I did with my new iPod nano! Firstly, refurbed goods are fixed until it's like new, and it's guaranteed to be tested, unlike new hardware which is just shipped off farwaway. And you get it cheap!
Anyone else love refurbed stuff, or considering going cheapo that way?
refurbished goods are unwanted garbage.

Weclock: refurbished goods are unwanted garbage.

One man's garbage is another's treasure
Or to put it another way: Some games that most people wouldn't even summon enough energy to sneer at, GOGers crave.
I bought my iMac refurbed. The thing is that Apple is a little unusual with refurbished stuff. They guarantee it like it was new. Most places have a 30-90 day warranty and that's it.
For me, it's like I got AppleCare for free.

I didn't say it was bad, bring your own connotations to the table.

Hush. Stop telling everyone, because if you do then people will stop buying new ones, and then we won't get any refurbs!
less warranty refurbished goods are only 3 months industry standard where as new you get 12 months plus you never know what previsly happened to it ghosts in the machines and all
both my computer and my smartphone are refurbed, and both have outlasted several new devices and have never had a single problem.
i always buy refurb now

Not true. There's always that fanboy who buys new just for the cool box.

Apple and most other respectable (not that Apple is repectable... SNAP!) will give you the same warranty as a new system.

It depends on the item:- For some of the schools I work at, we have to buy refurbished goods due to budget constraints. Their lifespan is considerable less, even if kept away from the more destructive students. The logistics of rolling out new computers and disposing of others happens too often compared to places with a high budget.
The iPod family, which is still rather new, has a quicker cycle, so the refurbished product is not as old and worn compared to other electronics. (as an anti-apple guy, I don't know why people spend anything on an iPod :)
I like my stuff new though, there s a bit of fun in hunting down a bargain around the place where you can get 10 to 70 percent of the cost down.
It depends on both the item and the seller. I won't buy PC part refurbs online, too much trouble if there are problems and any warranty is almost long enough for the item to arrive at my house. In many cases, the prices for refurb PC parts that aren't low enough from new to be worth the bother, even from someplace like Newegg.
I will buy referbs, "as is" and open box items from a store that is not having a "going out of business" sale. Most of my furniture was purchased "as is" or from a clearance room at a furniture store.
