there are too many games waiting to be played, they are crying for attention, but daddy is to buzy
I, for the most part, stopped buying games "just to have on the shelf". Some classics are excluded(Lucky for GOG), but for the most part, I just buy the games I want to play when I want them. I mean, the is literally a deal for any game, at any given moment somewhere out there.

eagarza12: I can't resist a good deal!
This. This is my problem. Especially when I can barely afford the deal's price to begin with haha. >.>

I try very hard to budget my time especially if I know that something like a Civ game that requires a fair bit of time invested is coming. If a bunch of, for example, adventure games are on sale in rapid succession I sometimes get a bit of a genre backlog though.

The only time I get very behind is when a game I bought out of curiosity and expected to be done with in a day or two suddenly takes over all my spare time for weeks. The last time this happened it was Recettear - it completely ate my schedule.

Braussie: It affects me a lot more this year, cause I don't have money to spend on games. Normally, I save up some to make sure I can get games I'd like while on the christmas specials, but w/ getting married, making the wife pregnant, and her stopping work for 4 months starting Jan, all while providing for a stepson...

The answer is Yes!!! I'm happy when it's something I don't want, cause then I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.

PS- I love this community! yesterday there was the bullfrog deal w/ 2 games I wanted, but couldn't get due to current finances. Someone gifted them to me. I was able to give them a steam key for a duplicate of a game I already owned to say thanks, so it evened out. There are so many great hearted people here... Many blessings to you all!
Congrats! I know what that's like. I got married and now have a son and have to think twice on my gaming dollars now. Ten years ago when I was single and just daing my (now) wife, I was able to impulse buy a lot more. Plus I knew I would have to time to play what I bought. I now have to budget funds and time.

What's really cool is that my son is getting old enough now where he is getting into video games too.

I sound like my parents now:
"You can only play video games (for him it's Super Mario Bros.) on the weekends..."
